Hello,

I am asking for thoughts on reinforcing my floor to handle a 165 gallon reef tank with 40 gallon sump. Would reinforcement of the floor be necessary? I live on a raised foundation and have a joist running perpendicular straight through the center of this 6 foot aquarium. Pictured below is the joist that sits directly under the center of the aquarium. Should I reinforce? If so, how should I go about doing this? There's only one just that sits under the tank.

Thank you.

I think you’re fine. You can look up the load ratings of that beam.

I do have two floor jacks. I may use them to help support the beam in the picture just for some peace of mind.

I would use the floor jacks. If nothing else it should help prevent floor movement when you're walking around the tank.
