Hey guys,

Im new to this hobby and got my first corals. I got a coral with a fairly big and white plug and i was wondering if i can remove it from the plug so it will look a lot better.

Yes. Just be somewhat gentle so you don't crack the skeleton in half, just glue.

Use a flat blade of some sort if you have one to pry under and pop the entire frag off, glue and all. I use a flat bladed tweezers.

I use cheap harbor freight wood chisels for chores like this.
Hold on to the bottom of the frag plug, rest the side of the frag plug on a towel covered hard surface ( use a cutting board when over a expensive counter top) and gently force the sharp edge of the chisel between the frag plug and the glue. A little twisting motion also helps.
Keeping the edge of the frag plug against a hard surface( cutting board) and not touching the coral itself helps with not breaking the stem of the coral.

Just leave it alone. I drilled holes in my rock to keep the plugs to make corals easier to move. You won’t even be able to see that in like a week. Most of mine are so encrusted with coralline algea they look like coral at this point.
