Replaced RO membrane and now no water is coming out.

Why is this happening and what’s the solution? After struggling to get the cap to the canister off it’s now not producing any good water out and only waste water and I have flushed it.

Couple things, did you install the membrane correctly? Did it seat properly? Is there a bypass valve the needs to be closed? Did you disconnect any rodi tubes? If so, did you reconnect them in the correct spots? did those get seated properly?

Are you certain it's the right membrane?

I did disconnect the tubes and reconnected them all multiple times and manually blew air into them lol.

And I can flush it doesn’t that mean water has to be going through it?

It means water can flow through the membrane housing. It sort of points to water can't push through the membrane. Can you verify inlet pressure?

When the flush valve is closed can you pull the waste line off and see any water flowing?

Did I connect the tubes right? Is it blue on top and red on bottom or should it be opposite? Or should the lines of the same color be parallel to each other? I have a BRS one.

There should be some sort of marking on there to indicate what's what. At least an arrow.

Why do you have that auto shutoff valve on there? Are you using a float valve to shut the main water off?

You can temporarily bypass that to see if that's the issue.

EDIT: If water is flowing to the drain when the reverse flush valve is open, then we can rule out the auto shutoff valve.

There is no auto shut off valve that’s the flow for the membrane. It’s a 75 GPD stock BRS unit.

You probably are aware but in the picture you posted you are bypassing your flow restriction on the waste line.
Yes I was flushing it. Even up no water is coming out of the blue line and I just removed the ro membrane and put it back and still no water coming out of the blue line.

There is no auto shut off valve
The white block that has the 4 lines connected to it is an auto shutoff. It's purpose is to pinch the incoming water off when pressure is built up on the other side of the block.

I was hoping you knew if that was necessary for your particular system. You very well may need it. But I think we can rule that out as the issue right now.

Generally there will be a side marked IN which will have the high pressure side (from carbon to the membrane) and the other side will be low presssure (from the permeate side of membrane to your container). It looks hooked up right to me.

Yeah the premium ones do. And a TDS and pressure meter.
Well, I guess it's good to have it, even if it's not used.

Yes! No? Was it supposed to? It was in a sealed bag but completely dry.
Well... it's supposed to be saturated, not dripping water per se. If it was allowed to dry up, it could permanently damage the membrane.

But we're getting too far ahead of ourselves.

We've established that you installed the new membrane correctly.

It appears that you have the inlet tap water (red) line correct.

We're assuming you have adequate water pressure???

And have you verified that water flows freely to the drain when the reverse flush valve is open?

And what happens to the water flowing to the drain when the reverse flush is closed. Does it slow to a trickle?
