Hi all. Been doing some research and would like to see if there are people who actually replace their cheato after a while.

Regards

I got rid of it all together. I have a 40 breeder refugium and it would outcompete all other macros. Now it’s just filled with a few types of Caulerpa.

@mfinn I'm not sure. Couldn't there eventually be a build up of detris?
When it grows and fills up the refugium space, it certainly does trap detritus.
That's one of the reasons I use a powerhead in the refugium, and when it does fill the space, it's time to harvest it.
I usually give it away to locals, but many people sell it.

You could always pull it out and rinse it in saltwater to clean out the detritus too.
But you don't need to replace it.

Thanks guys. I won't replace it completely. Just going to have it in a place where it can tumble and trim it every known and again

I have a local fish store that offers credit for cheato. Might want to check that out if you harvest alot.
