Hello Reefers! I'm very excited for my new build and for the first time ever I’m doing a build thread! I plan on taking tons of pictures every step of the way! If you like the build thread please give the posts a like ;Happy

This is my third from the ground up build and the best one yet. I have taken the years of trial and error, technology, and the basics to comprise this build. My fiancé and I just bought a house together so this tank will be in place for at least 8 years.

With this system I wanted to go back to what works, what has given me the best results in the past. I have done sumpless, sump, Zeovit, T5, LEDS, LED/T5 hybrid, red sea program, dry rock, live rock, live sand, dry sand, hob fuge, and I’m sure I’m leaving some out.

I plan to house mainly SPS with some LPS and NPS. It will be wrasse dominant with some other species.

My goals for this system:

Back to the basics
Using technology where it matters most
Reduce maintenance
Ease of servicing

Yesterday I wrapped up my build with Crystal Dynamic Aquariums with the following build:

-120 Gallon Euro Brace tank 48x24x24
-16” Synergy Shadow overflow – Bean animal
-½” glass with Starphire on the front and side panels
-2 ¾” returns
-Back panel painted black
-Steel stand powder coated white 48x24x40
-16 steel tabs for magnets (for when I skin the stand)
-Electric panel on right side painted white
-Bottom deck painted white

Equipment List:

-Trigger Sapphire 34 sump
-Icecap 3k Grye’s
-Sicce 5.0 Return
-Apex
-DOS
-Tunze ATO
-ATI 8 Bulb Dimmable Sunpower
-1 Coral Plus
-1 AquaBlue Special
-2 Giesemann Actinic
-1 ATI Purple Plus
-3ATI Blue Plus
-ReefBrite Lumilite Actinic Strip
-Kessil H380 for fuge
-Carbon Reactor
-Eheim Jager 150w heaters
-Nyos Quantum 160
-Davy Jones Skimmate Locker

Rock/Sand:

Reef Cleaners dry rock
Carib Sea Special Grade Live Sand
4 Brightwell Xport-Bio Filtration Bricks

For the aquascape my goal is to create a lifted scape with no more than 3 rock bases touching the bottom of the tank. Few reasons for this, keeps flow going and minimizes dead spots, creates more open floor space, and provides fish with more shaded bridges to swim through. Since the tank will be wrasse dominated more open sand space will help with their burrowing at night.

The wait period for the tank is 12-14 weeks (going to be a very long 12-14 weeks!), once I start to receive some pictures of the tank being built I will be sure to share!!

Until then any feedback or comments are more than welcome!

Love reading/following wrasse dominant tanks and builds! Really excited to see this get off the ground. Good luck and hopefully this new build is relatively stress-free both in creation and maintenance.

Thank you! It will be a fun adventure with some cool ideas I have in mind. Expect an equipment order placed during labor day sale time.

My tank should be shipping from Crystal Dynamics end of this month early October. I'll have some pictures of the system being fabricated in a week or so. Until then here's some of the goodies!

This is the location for the new system. The tank on the other side will be coming down and all sold. I plan on running the ATO reservoir through the wall on the left.
