Things have been going pretty well. Some of the chalices seem to be recovering but others I think are too far gone. The zoas I got from one of the guys continue to give me problems and not wanting to open. I was able to get a couple healed up by using peroxide. As far as the algae in the lagoon, I decided to give vibrant another try before maybe doing reef flux. I mean it’s not bad but it still really bothers me.!

Got a few new corals this week.

Im not sure if any of the zoas on here are named or not. I went in on an order with my buddy and they are from indo. They are a little ticked off from a Bayer dip.

These two are coming up pretty green, in person they are like a yellowish green and really bright

Did a zoa trade with a local for these. Really like the first ones. I have to figure out what they both are.

The rest of these are some of my favorites from the two orders about a month ago from members here on R2R.

I’ll tell you these zoas seem to photograph so well compared to the lps I normally shoot. Been having a lot of fun with the camera.

Today I got some new corals in. Just some cell phone shots. See if I can get some better ones tomorrow.

The zoas rocks were still pretty mad from a dip.

That Acan in the second picture is the same one I had, the one that died after it fell onto the Favia if you remember from a while back. Nice score, I really liked that one.
I remember, that one was really nice. It hurts when you lose a coral, especially one as nice as that one was. Guess it’s just part of the hobby. A lot of those chalices that were recovering seem to have taken a turn. They were looking good, not sure what happened. Maybe the second dip in the aminos made them mad. Oh well, what are you going to do.

It was a bummer to lose, I had high hopes for that particular coral. Luckily, now I know where to get another frag of it when I’m ready :)
Sorry to hear about the Chalices, I hope they recover. My one and only chalice receded completely except for the yellow eyes but it’s been making a comeback. I just stuck it in the lowest flow and light that I had and left it alone. Now it’s got some algae growing on the parts of its skeleton that were exposed so I've got to figure out how to deal with that without doing too much damage. I think it’s still pretty fragile.

I wouldn’t do anything about the algae myself unless it’s nasty long GHA or something. The coral will retake it’s old skeleton as it grows, unless the algae is really bad, I’d just leave it. I feel like it does more damage to the coral to try to fix it than just leaving it alone.

You have an AMAZING coral collection!

What do you try to keep your parameters at? I'm doing a softy / LPS tank also. So far everything is doing great...except acans.

Thank you! These are the parameters I shoot for. If your not feeding your acans meaty food I would defiantly recommend it, they are one coral that really benefit from feeding. I feed mine mysis a couple times a week but any frozen will work.

Alk 8.6
Cal 440
Mag 1400
Po4 0.07-0.1
No3 10-15

I was running lower no3 and po4 but they bottomed out and I ended up bleaching some corals. I have been recently testing running them at the above numbers and things have been going well. Had a bit of an algae out break in the acan tank but it seems to be getting better latley. The Tank is still pretty young though so I’m sure it’s just going through some growing pains. As far as what I’m dosing I’m just using tropic Marin all for reef and dosing KZ lps aminos.

So I have a bit of news. I have been mulling over starting a new tank. Crazy right? One minute I’ll be thinking about taking tanks down, then the next month starting new ones. The only place to put it I can fit a 48” x 24“ tank. Only thing is they isn’t room for a sump. Because of that I’ll have to go with an all in one. I really like all in ones and that’s all I know so I’m cool with it. I don’t think there is anyone that I know of that makes one that size so I went ahead and got some quotes on a custom built one. I figured I’ll get the back compartment to be made the same as the 30L and the same height so all the accessories will fit. I probably won’t have a huge bio load as it with be a frag tank and I think the cadlights skimmer and fuge basket should be enough for filtration. Anyway I got a few quotes and SCA aquariums seems to be the cheapest by quite a bit. I have read a few mixed reviews but think they will be fine. I’m really close to pulling the trigger and giving them the go ahead to start the build.

That sounds really cool. I was just looking for bigger AIO options online the other day for a possible future upgrade. What you just described sounds exactly like the IM SR80. I think Cadlights also has a 100 gallon model but that’s all I could find that were larger AIO. If you don’t mind PM me the details and the design, I’d love to check that out. An AIO that size with custom sized chambers in the back so a proper skimmer and Fuge could be used, and without IM’s hard to clean middle chamber is very interesting to me.
