The SR80 looks like a great frag tank.

I use the IM 25 lagoon for a frag tank as well but have slowed down on coral purchases. Do you plan on growing out and selling from the new tank?

That’s great, the lagoon has really good dimensions for a frag tank. Yes I’m going to be growing and selling mostly zoas in the SR80 and 30L. I have about 10 frags I put in the SR80 to test it and so far they are doing good. What kind of corals are you going to be growing?

This is just primarily a quarantine frag tank for new frags before they hit display. I do frag some stuff and add it here to sell as well.

Looking good bro, those torches are sweet. I have one of those racks but smaller, I like it a lot.

A frag rack is a frag rack :p

True Lol, but I like that you can slide the shelves out individually so when zoas grow on them you can take them out to cut off the overgrowth without removing the whole rack. Plus it looks pretty good.

The algae in the both the lagoon and 30g is pretty much all cleared up. I have really cut back on feeding both the fish and coral. I think I am going to try and keep the nitrates a bit lower to try and combat the algae. I was growing cheato in the back chambers to try and deal with the No3 and po4. It kept the po4 at a good level but I couldn't seem to bring the nitrates down. They were holding steady around 12-16 though. Maybe that's just where the tank wanted to be but I have been rethinking nitrate removal. I saw a live stream by Reefdudes on youtube with Tropic Marin awhile back. They were talking about their carbon dosing products and how they were a bit different from everyones else and much more forgiving as they have three different ones that you dose based on your phosphate level. Also supposedly it feeds bacteria that the corals then eat. Thought that was pretty cool and maybe they would benefit. I have also been running across some things lately mentioning corals eating bacteria. I ordered some and am going to play around with it after I'm done with the reef flux treatments. I just think with the bio load of the tanks and how much I want to feed them the fuge won't keep up. As of now there is no cheato in them as the reef flux was killing it. We will see how it works out.

The SR80 so far is doing well. I had to play around with the light placement to get the par spread I wanted. I think I have things where I want them for now. I have probably like 40 frags in it now. I ended up moving over most of the mushrooms that didn't have much algae on them. I am doing a new thing for algae on plugs, I don't want to be know as that local with algae on their frags lol. I ordered an open box Oral B rechargeable toothbush off ebay for $16. Then I ordered some off brand heads on amazon pretty cheap. They have these heads that I think are for cleaning braces and they work great. The brush and heads are small and really allows you to get into the crevices of the frags. Since it vibrates you don't have to stroke back and forth and it really precise so you hit the corals.

I also moved over the chalices and favias that were still hanging on from the lagoon. They have just been slowly declining so I thought why not. I don't have much hope so its whatever. I really don't know if I bleached them or if something else is going on. Im not sure because I had one chalice that started declining recently when its been months since I had the light mishap.

Other then that I moved over zoas I have double of. I am trying to keep two frags of each one in case I were to lose a frag. Believe it or not, I counted my zoas today and had 320+ frags lol. I do have some that are acting up though so have been doing dips pretty often. Have 3 orders on the way that will be coming in next week and the week after. Pretty much mostly zoas and then a handful of favias. Figured I would try some hard encrusting corals again and they are a bit more forgiving then chalices.

Saturday I traveled to the fish store I like in Raleigh about two hours away. I picked up a bunch of snails and a Tomini Tang. They had a yellow coris wrasse in their sales flyer but It sold before I got there. The tang is doing good and ate right away. Right now he is eating Nori and mysis. Doesn’t seem to interested in pellets or flakes yet but I have some formula two flakes on the way that are tailored more to tangs. This is my first bigger fish and I’m really enjoying it.

When I was there since it’s a bigger city I listed and traded for some frags. I have always kinda wanted to try sps again so I got a couple. I moved most of my mushrooms over and I think I may turn up just one light on the 30L and grow the sps right under it. I think it will be fun to try something new.

Not sure the name, I need to research it a bit.

Then this one is suppose to be a Walt Disney tenuis. It’s doesn’t have all the crazy colors I think because it was in pretty low light. We will see if I can pull them out.

The other frag I got was a head of the Grand Master Krak zoa. It has been kinda closed up ever since I traded for it. I think because it was recently cut and maybe the algae you can see in the picture. This was the first day, I cleaned the algae and it’s opening a tiny bit more. It looks healthy and I have faith it will do good, they are suppose to be pretty hardy.

Flux RX has been running for about 4 weeks on the lagoon and 3 weeks on the 30g zoa tank. Your not suppose to do water changes but I had to cut frags out of the zoa tank and I use the water change water for the saw. I did one and just re dosed flux Rx with the amount I took out. I did a water change on the 25 as well because I wanted to siphon the algae out, re dosed it as well. Algae is pretty much completely gone but I want to give it a little more time. The only thing is in the lagoon I got a bit of cyano about a week or so in. It’s not much but is bothering a few corals. Not sure if I can use chemi clean and the flux Rx together so I better probably wait.

Yesterday I got an order in from a member here on R2R. It came in a little cold and the heat pack wasn’t warm but the corals looked great.

Took some pictures of the mushrooms that I moved over to the SR80. I have about 5 or so to still move over.Target have a bit of algae on the disks so I want to give it some more time with the flux

I’m pretty happy this Neptune bounce’s bubbles are finally getting bigger and some of the pink color. I got a frag about 6-8moths ago and it’s just been having a bunch of babies but not getting much bigger. I cut it away from the colony and put it on its own disk so maybe that helped.

The new tang is settling in great. He is becoming less shy and is now eating flakes along with mysis and nori. I still want to get a coris wrasse and maybe a molly miller blenny but that will probably be it. There is also two mollies in the tank that have been there since the cycle finished.

Wow I saw the first pic and the collection of lords blew me away. Acans are by far my favorite coral and I want to start my first tank with a 10 gallon with just Acans. This tank is awesome! (The lagoon)

Thank you! They are probably my favorite as well. They are just so colorful and actually pretty easy. What is your plan for the 10g?
