Hello,
I just bought a royal gramma about 1.5 inch about 5 days ago and when I bought him I saw a small very tiny clip on the back tail fin. I figured it would heal in no time.
He is in a QT for observation! Since the last time I added a gramma to my DT I had to go fallow due to an ich out break.
I really don’t want to loose another gramma due to some illness.
he swims and seems very healthy. I just noticed the tail fin started to clam a little and now there’s a line on the tail. Any help would be great. Sorry pictures not so good as he likes to hide. And front glass has algae. But you can see the tail has a purple line. Wasn’t there yesterday!

Sorry, those pictures are too pixelated to see. Gramma are prone to lymphocystis, and if that is it, it will resolve on its own in 4 to 8 weeks.

I would caution against just doing an observational quarantine - too many times people do that and get disease brought into their DT afterwards.
