I’ve been in the saltwater hobby for about 20+ years now. First, fish only tank and within the last 5 years, mix reef tank. I just recently joined this community during the pandemic but I’ve been lurking and reading up for awhile. After much contemplating to upgrade from my small Red Sea nano tank, I’ve decided not to go with a peninsula style tank as originally planned due to placement and my wife’s input. I’ve pulled the trigger on a Planet Mega Matrix 155 gallon (48 1/2” x 30 1/2” x 25”) with external overflow. Stand will be a custom wood stand recommended by my LFS. Here’s a list of what’s coming:

- Ice cap 36xl sump
- Ice cap K1-200 Protein skimmer
- Reef Breeders Photon 50 V2+
- 2 jebao gyre scp150
- 2 jebao dcp15000

And it begins...

Well, got the RODI and Saltwater mixing station in today. Pipes are not glued yet just test fitted for now.
Have you guys used the pump from the mixing station to pull water from your DT when doing water changes?

This is the intended location of my new tank. The protruding wall is exactly 4’ across. I will be moving the content of the Red Sea over. Debating if I should accent the wall but I haven’t found anything I like yet. I wish the new tank would arrive already.

Finally got my stand back from getting outfitted with removal center bar (because my sump wouldn’t fit), electronic panel, sealed top and bottom panels. At the same time my tank was delivered. Very please with the setup.

This is the 1st time at hard plumbing. I messed up one time doing the return when I glued the union and forget to slip the union nut. Had to make a run to pick up some slip fittings. Waiting for a few more items to complete plumbing and get it went. Probably mid next week.

Alright! The wife gave up her comfy nook and gave it to me since she didn’t like the original placement of the tank. Boy did she put up a fight. Now it’s my “Man Nook” or “Fish Nook”! I actually like this better. The spot before clash with my 87” led display, distracting you while watching a movie.

She’s wet but I have 3 small leaks in pipe run. One I managed to stop with some silicon. The other 2 didn’t so I have to drain and refill. Awaiting for order to come in before doing so. What a pain! BTW, I won’t be keeping my other 3 tanks. Might be able to convince the wife on keeping 2.

Thanks. I told her I’m keeping all three. She said okay....okay then! And that’s how you put your foot down, lol.
Most likely use the Nano Max as QT.
