Thanks. These acro frags are from Battlecorals.comthose are nice. where do you buy your frags and who do you prefer
Thanks. They are all looking really good with the exception of the BC Giligan which has no polyp extension. I was reading a thread about Giligan yesterday and people were saying it is a very finicky acro. That's a good start, any updates on how the BC pack is doing? Hope all is going well with the sysyem
What’s your qt methodI have these two tangs in QT right now, so I’m anxious to get them into the display to also help with the nutrients.
I’ve been wanting to order from them. Anxious the temp is 90 degrees in cen CaliThanks. These acro frags are from Battlecorals.com
My next purchase will probably be from TSA. I’ve used them twice in the past and they are also healthy / clean frags.
I used to not QT fish as I believe and for the most part still do believe that healthy fish in a good environment can keep ich from being an issue. However, this time I added too much at once causing a bad bacterial bloom causing the oxygen levels to drop causing lots of stress and the parasites took hold and all my fish except for the foxface died from loss of oxygen and parasites. What’s your qt method
I’m also in CA, I wouldn’t be worried about 90-degree weather with either of those 2-companies. They package the coral accordingly. Typically it leaves their facility in the PM and arrives at your house the next morning before it gets too hot out.I’ve been wanting to order from them. Anxious the temp is 90 degrees in cen Cali
I usually quarantine but for the less of a hassle to set up the quarantine tank etc.. i purchased my last fish and just threw her in. It was my daughters selection so I couldn't say no. I felt like russian roulette when i did it.. crossing my fingers i didnt come back to any outbreak and fish dying.I used to not QT fish as I believe and for the most part still do believe that healthy fish in a good environment can keep ich from being an issue. So now what I’m doing is QT with Coppersafe. The foxface was in copper well over 30-days since it for sure had ich or velvet. When I took the foxface out I cleaned the tank (keeping the bio filter intact) and then put in the Whitetail Tang and Blue Tang. For them I observed for a few days and saw no signs of parasites or anything else. Then I added Coppersafe to 2 over 48-hours and I plan to keep them in the copper for 14-days and then into the display.
For my next batch of fish I’m planning on 4-resplendent Anthias.
they definitely have a lot of corals on their site that are intriguing.I’m also in CA, I wouldn’t be worried about 90-degree weather with either of those 2-companies. I think you'll be okay if you haven't seen anything come up after a week or so of adding your daughters fish.I usually quarantine but for the less of a hassle to set up the quarantine tank etc.. i purchased my last fish and just threw her in. Anyhow, i appreciate the input. I also want to run qt my next fish coming up. I think your luck can only go on for so long before you catch something. For your situation, did you purchase 5+ and introduce to a immature tank, or i'm just trying to fully understand so prevent similiar incidents

Are you talking about 5+ acros to an immature tank or are you talking about fish? My tank has been wet since November 2021, so I wouldn't call it an immature tank at the time I introduced the acros. My original plan was to add the acros much sooner, however, I had a bunch of things come up so I delayed.
If you're talking about the fish, I was adding new fish every couple of weeks, plus I added a 100ml vial of coraline algae which was shipped to me and stunk very bad, plus I was dosing MB CLEAN bacteria, so I think the bacteria in the tank just went nuts trying to establish itself and caused the bloom which was very bad for the fish.
I think adding them too frequently was part of the issue.I see I thought you added too many fish and the bloom occurred from the fish being added
Thanks! One of my favorite as well. So far I’ve only had the the first 3 Anthias for about 2-weeks and then added 3-more a couple days ago. Hopefully I can keep them alive long enough to where I’m credible to be telling secrets. I’m feeding them multiple times per day and they are eating pellets too!Love the anthias! One of my favorite fish, I could never keep a shoal of them though. Secret?? Haha
