Honestly I can't find them now. I went with the white tiles because they where the only tiles I could find @5"
I know I seen some gray and black tiles but not finding much on search now.
Think im gonna start a thread and see what peeps are using. I really don't care for the glare!
Let me know if you find some. Agreed that the white are a bit loud and kind of wash out the color on the coral.

I love how you've lined your tank with the live rock.

5" tiles! Holy mosses those are some big shrooms!
Letting them go beast mode man:D
But yeah they are the biggest i could find. Have 16 sq ft of floor to cover now trying to get that done as efficiently as possible.
ATM I took black egg crate and put under my rock on perimeter. The white tiles will replace that and the grays will cover floor for shrooms to chill and grow on.

Eshopps makes some blackish gray tiles. Not sure what size they are though everywhere ive found them the size isn't listed. Think im going to call around and see whats up and snag a ton of them.
Would be great to find some 12x12's we could cut down to the sizes needed. My tile saw has a new blade I haven't touched yet.

Any excuse to use power tools..

Was going to text you and see what thoughts are on cutting up live rock and making shelf system. Ive got a few super big shelf rocks in my sumps that I'd rather utilize up top now that I have the real estate.
What kind of blade would work best?
What kind of saw?

I would be all about it and now you've got my gears turning.

To do this, I'd use a thin piece of lexan or polycarbonate as a sled for a tile saw riding against a fence. Hot glue will temporarily hold the rock to the sled.

Align the blade and make two cuts, one from the bottom, flip and shim the rock, and make your second connecting cut. If the piece is too thick for these two cuts to meet, a high tooth count bimetal blade made for metal on a reciprocating saw will easily separate the two halves.

Does that make sense outside of my head? I can mock it up in the shop with pics if helpful.

Something also super interesting since salt change. PH was pretty much locked in around 8.31 - 8.35
Found it creeping up to 8.37 yesterday.
Unplugged one of my outside air intakes and letting it suck inside air with outside air hoping I can find some kind of equilibrium.
These tanks are so much more efficient than set up I had. Pretty much plug and play. Getting proper turnover, getting aeration through entire system. Learned alot from all this. Cant wait to see what happens this year:D

Yes let me see it bro. Feel like all I'd need to do is get the right blade. Yes a cut on each side should do the trick. Shouldn't have to cut all the way through.
I'm removing the rock on the ends for light sensitive shrooms. Believe it or not its still too bright for some of them. This extra space on ends of tanks are going to be super helpful man.
Think cave shelf system along entire back wall:D

Shoot me a picture of one of the rocks and draw a line on there how you would cut it. I'll mock it up in a bit

I'll snag some pix when I get home. One of them is easily 18-24" long by 12" wide × 3-5" thick. Probably that rock alone, cut into 2" slivers along the width would get me a majority of proper size shelf pieces. I cant build too high. Maybe caves on ends and tiered shelf along back wall.

Haha yessir thanks for popping in on new build. Going full lagoon on shroom tank:D
Its funny I was at lfs yesterday and seen this guy and thought of your monstrosity of hairy shroom rock.
Pictures cant do this guy justice! I may have to go back and grab it today!
Had to use filter. Colors are more true toxic yellow with purple and pink bouncy vesicles starting to pop:D

Just be cognizant of the center weight and sag. Depending on the porosity and density of the rock, too long of a span may weaken the shelf substantially if there are empty pockets within the rock.

This gulf rock is pretty heavy and dense but super porous. Hard to explain but def heavy enough to handle at 2" thick.
I'm going to go through it tonight and see what im working with but honestly all the rock on my sumps will have to be cut up to use up top now. Just to big to do anything with. Whatever I dont use up top in tanks will stay in sumps.

Looking great!
