New to saltwater tank, but this doesn't make sense to me.
I filled my tank with ro water, and ph was around 7.2 afterwards.
I started adding some salt a few hrs ago, and ph is lowly dropping. Currently around 6.5.
I was expecting it to rise?

Anyone can explain this?

Are you cycling your tank ?
Well, the tank hasn't really started much cycling yet. Just added water today and so far about 1/3 of the salt needed. Nothing else except dry rock and sand.
The ph started dropping right after the first pound of salt was added.

I would not be worried about the ph at this moment.

I'm not worried, but curious XD

Test your ph in 24 hours so the tank has time to get aerated.

In the long haul:
There are two factors that determines your ph, your alkalinity, and how much C02 is trapped in your water.

Yes. I did figure out the 'error'. I must have used wrong buffer for my calibration. I recalibrated, and ph is close to 8. After adding more salt (in sump not far from the probes) it got to 8.1 and slowly decreased as the salt dissolved.
I still got around 10 lbs of salt to add, so guess ph will end at reasonable levels.

Now to figure out why my temp probe seems to read to low
