I have a 55 gallon barrel I mixed my saltwater in and after a month as I got to the bottom it was slimy. Should I have the pump inside on all the time to keep the slime down? I only used the pump to mix the salt for 24 hours then unplugged it so it sat there for weeks with no pump going it seemed fine until close to the bottom. The lid is on and has a seal so no air gets to it unless I open it. Could the slime be from something else? I had some brown algae looking slime to but I thought it was from the window in that room and my barrel is white food grade plastic was the slime the algae? I cleaned it out and refilled it last week and its not slimy right now but I have the pump going 4 hours a day. Let me know what you think I'm new to using something this large to mix saltwater most times I just did what I would use in a bucket for that one time.
