Hello guys and girls.
This is my first build thread on here but not my first tank. I am 23 and have been in the hobby for about 5 years?

A little history....
i started this expensive beloved hobby with a 72 gallon bow front. At the time i was a college student on a MAJOR budget. I bought when i could and tried getting the best deals possible.
a short period later i came across a 60gallon cube full setup on the interweb For like $500...
after chatting with the guy for a bit, he finally says, if you got a truck and someone to help load come get it we need it out the house.....
Lets just say me and my dad took off on that 4 hour road trip to go get this setup for FREE!
Anyways, i restarted that tank after getting it home and kept it up for about a year until i got the urge to upgrade.

i came across this 5x2x2 SCA150 that the guy had listed for a long time. ( he wanted t0 much) . After talking with him on and off for a while i finally got him down to a price i was willing to pay.
I sold the 60gallon and put everything in a 40b until i got the 150 and got it set up.

sept 2017 i officially set up the 150gallon tank. I slowly built that system up for the next 2years... new sump, ATI fixture, calcium reactor, etc a good running basic setup with no controller. It was a awesome tank....
Then sept 2019 things got to where i didnt have time for the maintenance on it anymore since graduating college and going to work full time. So the tank started going down hill quickly.
at that time i decided it was time for me to downsize to something more manageable with the time i have between work.
So i tore down the 150gallon and sold it. Kept the fish and what corals that lived and put those in a 60gallon frag tank.

then started the planning process of what i was getting next. I wanted something no bigger then around 75 gallons but didnt want anything bigger then 3ft and wanted to take this build slow and get nicer equipment/corals this go round without going into debt!
I tossed around the IM 50 lagoon EXT and 75 EXT. Got a few quotes from places on tanks that size.
i contacted SCA for a quote and ended up buying a 30x24x16 with stand from them with it drilled for Ext Overflow.
well after waiting 15 weeks and still no take but kept getting delays, they offered me a refund. This is not bashing SCA in anyway. They make good tanks.
i got my refund and went on the search again. Looking back at the IM Tanks, waterbox, redsea, elos, etc.
i came across the FIJI cube 81 EXT .
36x24x22.5. Tank, stand, sump, ATO, and external overflow box for $1800!! AND 18 MONTH WARRANTY!
At that point i was sold!!
Now i am currently waiting on that tank to come in. And trying to make a decision on some equipment that i need to buy.
Ill share a few pics of my previous tanks along with the one i settled with at the end!

All pics are in order from the time i started to right before i tore my 150 down

Here is a list of equipment i plan to run. Please dont hesitate to give advice or suggestions.

things i already have are:

curve 7 skimmer,
Kessil h380 fuge light
Coralbox wifi doser
Calcium reactor (unsure if im going to use it or not)
multimedia reactor
Wavemakers (Reef octopus octo 4 and jebao rw 20. -probably overkill)
a few other things im probably forgetting. Ive collected a lot over the years.

things i plan to buy:
Lights... oh boy.. i am completly torn between 1 GHL mitras lx7206 and 2 Radion gen 5 xr15pro (Keeping that budget as close to under 1k as possible
GHL proflux 4 ultimate
Kh/ion director and dosing pump ( those will hopfully come later on in the build)
Another bag of sand
Another box or 2 of the carib sea life rock shapes.
more salt,

My new RODI filters came in the mail this week along with 2 RO canisters.
i am adding a 2nd (maybe a 3rd) sediment filter to my unit. i am on well water out in the country and it pulls up ALOT of sand. unfortunately the way my unit is plumbed it pulls straight from the ground so it bypasses the pre filter that goes to the house.

ill updated this as i come across
More things i need/want to get.
Tomorrow i will post my somewhat planned stocking list.

sorry For the long read. Hope you enjoy!

havnt been able to update.. been busy at work and other things in life. i did grab a GHL 2.1 standalone doser from a member on here over the weekend. i am praying that my tank will ship out this week. I am beyond ready to get it set up. things in my frag tank are steadily dying due to lack of maintenance (my fault). i did manage to change out all my RODI filters and make a fresh 65 gallons of RODI to have on hand.

anyone know where the best place is to get colored PVC on reasonable side other then aquarium specialty and BRS? will most likey get from Aquarium specialty if i cant find it anywhere else.

Little late update.

tank came in on tuesday.

got it moved into stand thurday. (Didnt have help until then)

once i took all the wrappings off from around the tank and got it on the stand i seen several surface scratches and a tiny chip in the top corner of the glass That was hidden under one of the foam corners. This stuff had to have happened before shipping because the tank was packaged well. And def wasnt caused by us moving cause nobody brushed up against anything etc. most of the scratches was toward the top.
Anyways, i took pics and sent them to fiji that night.
I immediately got a response. they said they would get back to me on what they would do.
Next day (friday) they gave me 3 options.
new tank, refund $200, or send me a matching t5 hybrid with dc pumps.

I told them i just wanted a tank with no scratches .
they are suppose to be shipping out a new tank this week.
so far the customer services and response times are awesome! Lets hope they follow th

heres what the tank/ stand looks like

Update time!
Sorry im horrible at remembering to update these things.
So set up tank april 18th.
Started dosing brightwell microbacter the first week and feeding.
25th i added a blue chromis i had from my frag tank to see how he does.
so far he is doing great.very active swimmer. I have been trying to test ammonia, no2, and no3 with salifert but i struggle really bad with those color test.

the ugly diatom algae stage has now begun... skimmer is starting to settle down. But is driving me crazy because of the epic amount of microbubbles that come from the outlet which end up in the display. Ive tried everything i know to tr

last night i added the cuc i had in my frag tank, handfull of snails, 1 or 2 hermits, 1 emerald crab, 1 peppermint shrimp and a large brittle star. Will see how they do over the course of the next few days.thinking about ordering a small cuc pack in the next week or 2.
only fish i have left to transfer over out my old system is 2 pajama cardinals and 2 clown fish.
The RO pulse 4 is to strong on its lowest setting so i guess ill end up down sizing it

Im sure im leaving out a few small details on some things along the way.

heres a few pics i took along the way
