He stopped killing. Guess those fish were just ticking him off. Its weird they knew their time was numbered and they were scared beforehand. My $$ is on the six line. Its going to be an operation to get him out.
I'm probably going to have to remove all my rocks... :(
Fish trap. Trap some bristle worms then use them as bait for the six-line?

I'll get them from a Petco. I don't have large enough bristle worms. Thanks for the great idea!

I mean they're good, but not "I'ma kill all my housemates" good.
This.

Sixes are a$$h0les, and you typically can see them get aggro (they aren't cryptic about it). I'm also in the you got some investigating to do club.

P.S. BTDT with sixline capture/removal... They aren't the go into the trap type, your prolly removing rock & water to get it out. Hell, just try to catch it with a net for a bit, they tend to join the Apollo program at that point anyway....

So I walked into my fish closet this morning and was like omg... am I going to catch a break with these fish!?

Turns out he was just joshing me... was totally fine just passed out that way. Thats why I chose the Canary Blenny over the Midas.... They are way more gregarious.

I'm pretty sure the six line killed the other canary at least; So before I found the Canary dead, I almost had a chance to catch him out of the tank. I saw him kind of stunned swimming in circles obviously hurt; his fangs were out; I think I interrupted a fight between him and the 6-line. I didn't have time to get a net before he came to and swam for cover.
when I look at the 6-line now I think I see fang marks on him. Could be my imagination but I've also considered the sailfin - he's gotten really big and is always picking on the hippo tangs.

Using a reliable Fluke 77 IV multimeter I have 20V AC when I put the black in a grounded terminal and the red in the tank. I get the same when I removed all wires. I also get 20V when I do the same in a plastic terrarium with saltwater, Phyto and pods and an air bubbler only.
I think the voltage is ok. The Canary Blenny is still super spooked; the larger fish are ok.

If it were a chemical like sunscreen or bug spray, I would think it would kill the things in the exile tank first since that was exposed directly. Also, The coral banded shrimp are fine.

I think I have a killer :( I bet its the six line. :( I see him stepping to all the chromis and the larger fish are antsy when hes near them.
Can six line take out larger fish like anthias?
I think it was a fish killer too judging by the bitten tail fins. Can’t say which one myself because even herbivores can kill for territory. Up to you to spot the aggression.

Sixes tend to go after conspecifics usually (other wrasses). Now if you added a ton of fish after the six or if they are small enough that the six can bully, then bets are off.

I highly doubt it's the sailfin... Maybe other zebrasoma tangs it will nip/slash at, but typically tangs can care less about non tang fish except when it's a direct threat to food or territory.

One possibility- Phosphate rise when nitrate is limited. You may have lower nitrates then what the test can show.

I have one in the tank! He was spared by the killer too. The blue line and in quarantine is a sharknose goby. Basically the same just with a splash of yellow at the head.

I could have bought a Sharknose yesterday but it looked sick. Something about buying an unhealthy fish - especially a cleaner fish - just doesn't sit well with me - QT or not.

I agree. I won’t buy one just as statement, in the off chance it will motivate better shipping and transferring processing.

IMG_1605(1).JPEG

My sump fish are even getting culled... I found him on top of my cheato. :( I guess when I stopped the pumps to feed the corals the other day he swam above the cheato then I turned the pumps on. I blackout my sump so didnt see him stuggling.
