Hey- new to not yet even reefing. I live in North bay close to the ocean. Do you ever go get sea water? Does anyone do that?

I got rodi everything setup but I also have a truck & tanks. Im also wondering why i dont see reefers with muscles in their tanks as filter helpers? I bring them home to eat so I wonder why not add some oysters & muscles to a reef tank? Any thoughts? Thanks
-maybe wrong place to ask u but saw you live in same area/ocean.

Hi Porter
I think the reason people don't get water directly from the shore is contamination. The water will probably cause more money to fix down the line then mixing your own salt.

Actually I am not sure about muscle and oyster, my tank have two little ones that came with live rock and they seem fine. My guess is they are not appealing as "pets".
