Started assembling my Rodi. I’m using an ro booster not because I need it but because it helps with quality production and has an automatic flush and redundant solenoids for shutting off the finished product water. I will not be using an ato reservoir. This will be Fitted to an in-line solenoid valve and a float. The solenoid will be controlled by my apex and two optical sensors. My wife works from home 3 to 4 days a week and I’m home during the day and work 2nd shift most of the year. So it’s rather uncommon to have the house unoccupied for very long. Again this system is being built with automation at its core. The idea being that if I don’t have to physically chance water, top off rodi, clean filter socks and all that nonsense it’ll be much easier to be successful. Mixing water every two to three weeks is no big deal. Mixing water and ******* buckets weekly sucks butt. And it just won’t and don’t get done…

Started making water for curing my dry rock today. With the booster pump and 7 stage brs rodi sys. I have 3 tds after the membrane and 0 tds after the first di canister, obviously 0 tds after the 2nd and 3rd di canisters as well. I drilled my 30 gallon brute can installed a float valve and fired up the booster pump. The booster is very quiet and I have 85psi going into the membrane. I added in a pump to the can and a heater from an old tank. Set to 77 degrees and will let the rock cure till the tank is ready. That should give it a good start. I might even add some dr tims in a couple weeks to get things going ahead of time.

Started working on a Neptune board. It’s not going to be anything special… it’s a board literally.. a plywood board…. With lots of awesome Neptune gear on it!

Struggling with low ph. Like really low. 7.35 to 7.55 used a couple different tests and calibrated probes. The reading is accurate. Trying to bring it up with buffer to no avail. I’m going to bring a fuge online this week. See if that helps.

You are close to a window, you can run an air line from your skimmer to outside. I did this and it raised my ph from mid 7's to 8.35 stable. just a thought.

Soo last night my trigger systems Rollermat malfunctioned. The drive side came off the gear and it failed to roll up the dirty side. Which caused the chamber to fill up when the filter clogged up. At 3 am I went in to go to the bathroom and heard splashing. Well that’s not good I thought. So I look over with one eye hardly open and see that the roll was jacked up and falling out…. Good thing i have to get up several times a night to pee lol. Fixed the roll and went back to bed. What I hadn’t thought of “ at 3am “ is that the filling of the first chamber caused the return pump chamber to lower. Which turned on my ato. After fixing the roll and letting the water out into the rest of the sump I was now too full. So when I went back in this am to check on things I see my sump full of foam from the skimmer…. Oh sweet now I can clean that up. Spent some time in there this morning lowering my water lv. And making sure I’m not too diluted in the salinity department. All is well now.

Heard some strange noises coming from the fish room the other day. Went to investigate and found one of my cor15 pumps drivers was flashing red. Opened the app and it was an issue with voltage did a bunch of swapping of wires to different eb832s and nothing worked. Swapped the two drivers around and the pump works. So I’ve traced it back to a bad driver. Had issues getting this one up and running when I first got it set up. Seems I should have sent it back when I first got it. Ordered a new Cor20 pump as the 15s are not in stock. Glad I set it up with duel return pumps. Currently running at 1200gph off the one 15 I have working. When the 20 goes online I’ll reach out and see if I can get the other one fixed as a spare. Redundant pumps saved my system for sure.
Also had to trade in the puffer. He was not meant for my system and I replaced him with a sand sifting goby. In the mail right now is a four pack of eco pods new roller fleece 150gpd expansion for my ro. And the new Cor20. also added my first coral as a test.

IMO, the downside to the Neptune equipment is the REQUIREMENT to keep spares around for virtually everything. I don't have a spare brain at the moment (I should) but I do have spare Core pumps, spare DOS, spare gyres, spare EB8.

I love what Neptune does -- software in particular -- but have come to distrust the hardware. Too much corner cutting with uber cheap chinese components. The electrical engineers around here actually open up the stuff and replace capacitors preemptively. Rant complete.
