Hello all!
ive been wanting to do a frag tank for a very long time. This year,I graduated high school, so what better way to celebrate than to set up a new tank!?
I’m using my old 65 gallon display as my new frag tank. It will be plumbed in with my 180 gallon display to make one large system. The total system, with the sump in my 180, will be ~335 gallons. I’m hoping this will make maintenance easier and my tank more stable.
I am wanting to delve into the world of frags and start a small in home frag business. I have done the best I can to get quality equipment at a good price for my new setup. Me and my dad built the stand, I got used equipment, and used a spare tank I already had. Hopefully I’m off to a good start!
I have been working with a comeant to transship a large box of corals in to begin my fragging/business adventure. This is the same person I transshipped fish with last year. To begin, I’m starting with a large box of high quality wild zoanthids from Vietnam, Fiji,Taiwan, and Tonga. I’m going on halves with an acquaintance here on R2R and we are hopefully going to get some nice frags!
I’ll be updating with pics and info throughout the entire process! Feel free to ask any questions or give advice! Here is the beginning of the build:
The stand was built from 1 1/2” 1/4” thick hot rolled steel. It is a simple stand with one center brace. Me and my dad built it in a day.
Primed, painted, and set in place. 3/8” piece of plywood is used as the base between the tank and the stand
tank is placed on the stand, holes drilled in the plywood for plumbing.
