The lesser of two costs at leastPositive update on the Trident NP. Fixing the hose took care of the problem and now it’s working as it should.
Bad news is the reagents are now no good so I have to wait for the replacements to arrive.

Okay. Whats the best approach for my tank do you think besides dosing alk. Only using 4ml a day.Kalk won't keep up with my tanks needs for elements. I dose 16ml a day of flourine alone.
Don’t tell OSHADo I see a second multiplug connected to the one on the floor?
I mean my total volume is 170g with sump. I have to say I’m really lucky brs sent me that 15g ATO. Been no fuss or issues with topping off. Which is great that all salinity swings are a thing of the past (and burning out pumps). I’m trying to plan for the future on dosing. I don’t care how I do it… I just want to be pointed in a direction but I’ll look at af 123! Right now I’ve been using Red Sea concentrated alk.I like af comp 123. Mix yourself. Then balance with icp from there. But that's on a 120 with 17g frag tank!
Just saying only thing I use red sea is a filter roller or 3. Alk test sent me to 12 dkh when shooting for 8.I mean my total volume is 170g with sump. As long as there’s no more major boneheaded stuff by me… I think I’m starting to finally steady my tank out.
What’s the hesitation to the co2? Fluctuates too much? Or gives off false numbers?Theres some hesitation on thr co2 scrubber amongst the higher end acro keepers as to whether or not to use one. Kalk isn't necessary but that's a camp either wanna roll with or dont. You could look into air exchangers which would be a solution for low ph as well.
Easiest way for alk is baking sodaI mean my total volume is 170g with sump. I have to say I’m really lucky brs sent me that 15g ATO. Been no fuss or issues with topping off. Yeah. I hear ya. I just know that I’m gonna have to eventually in the near future be dosing heavier than 4ml of alk and that’s it to be successful.Just saying only thing I use red sea is a filter roller or 3. Alk test sent me to 12 dkh when shooting for 8.
No.What prompted the dosing? Low nitrates?
Oh. That is pretty easy. And cheap. Screenshotted - thank you. So how many gal of Rodi do you typically mix your baking soda in?Easiest way for alk is baking soda
Buy a tub and use dosing calculator.
For 170g then just 2 tsp = .5 dkh
So figure out how long to drop from 8.5 to 8 and add 2 tsp stirred into some rodi when needed. Easy and cheap
From ordering from them. They send a card with it or separate depending on what you getHow do you even get brs codes?
It doesn’t matter. Enough to dissolve itOh. That is pretty easy. And cheap. Screenshotted - thank you. So how many gal of Rodi do you typically mix your baking soda in?
They send invoice when closer to ship dateDoes Dr. Reef sent invoice for something because it didn't make me pay when I just place my order
You don’t need a lot. I had a tumbler cup, little bigger than a keg cup, and I could dissolve 1tsp in that. I would suspect a quart would be fine for 2 tsp.Oh. That is pretty easy. And cheap. Screenshotted - thank you. So how many gal of Rodi do you typically mix your baking soda in?
@VintageReefer besides my rant. Got that last RFA. All of them have now found a home.
Fwiw all I know comes from other peoples knowledge so it's not like you're actually having to listen to me if that makes one feel better. LolWhen in doubt, listen to Billy and Baby Shark. They have a ton of practical knowledge and experience and are always willing to share it. You just have to trust the process and go with it.
Lots of ways to run a tank. Find someone(s) whose tank you like and ask them if you can copy their methods. Hopefully then you can emulate their success.
