I’d rather syphon my sand…that seems extrain
Hey zero, I know there is a popular Dino forum and I believe early on they used metro. I believe it had some success on the sand type.

Alternatively and more natural is the controlling of population. Any hobby or Walmart carries these white plastic sheets used for crotchet. Cut them to fit your sand bed, put in places of high population. You’ll need to pull them out twice a day once before lights out and after lights on. Rinse the sheets in hot tap water. If I recall tap water causes them to explode so it’s a little revenge. In about three days the repopulation will slow as the newer cells capable of reproducing are being removed leaving the older cells to die off. In about a week of diligence the other bacteria should populate the vacant space . In two weeks you should be clear.

If running a Uv then no need to stop flow when pulling sheets out.
