Just had my lines buried and the utility let me keep the poles, they are creosote preserved and I dont think there is anything you could coat them in.

Maybe a wrap. They do a plastic type of shrink wrap on outdoor posts, I've seen

Probably a true story. Usually that stuff doesnt bug me, but they use stuff in the utilities that is banned in all other uses, even the herbicides they use in the substations.

I’ll admit that would be hilarious. I could route the returns that way too and build a rock island around it. Probably too expensive though

yeah the crossbeam would be the best. May be able to just move that post also. I had a place that the post was not actually in contact with the beam, so it was doing nothing.
