I have been trying to come up with a plan to up ph thats the easiest! Being a woman and don't get any help from hubby and not very mechinally inclined or tech savy! lol I live in florida so If I run a line it would be hot humid air and I also have my yard chemically sprayed so that wouldnt be an option. Sure cant leave windows open! If I use kalk how would i make sure it dosnt get to high? I have a seneye that I dont run but I think it might have a ph slide I can buy! What about these ph boosters that dont raise alk? I was reading about them the other day but I remember also reading never add those but if it dosnt raise alk then I dont see what the harm would be! Anyone tried that besides aquavitro? I dont get much growth at all from corals so I am assuming its ph either that or putting hands in tank to much! lol I have a lot of new frags on sand bed that snails keep knocking over so thats why I keep putting my hands in and have yet to decide on permanent placement either!

PH definitely impacts growth. BRS recommends not to use the boosters since it can lead to issues such as raising alk but if you compensate for that I don't see any issue, I've been doing it for over a year, nothing weird on ICPs.

Do you have full tank shots? also for PH you can use co2 scrubber Its easy to use you just have to change out the medium every 2 or 3 weeks.

see below link from brs

also how are you testing your PH, do you know if the tester is accurate?

what kind of corals do you have, do you have sps?

Struggled with low pH and swings for a few months. Saw quite a bit of acro STN in that period. I've gotten pretty aggressive with kalkwasser dosing and I've been able to maintain 8.3ish day and night(frag tank opposite light cycle). About 5 weeks into a tank with stable pH and I'm seeing significantly more growth and happier coral.
How big is your system and how do you dose Kalkwasser? I have 200gal system fully stocked with mostly acro and I use Kalk stirrer to dose 3L to the system daily. 3 cups of BRS kalkwasser lasts me about 10 days. If I don’t change out Kalk every 10 days pH will drop from 7.8-7.9 to 7.5-7.6? Does this sound normal?

I would re-calibrate your probe. I very much doubt you're hitting 7.5-7.6.

Total volume is roughly 120g I dose approximately 3 gallons fully saturated out of a 44g brute using a peristaltic pump. My peristaltic is controlled by my pH probe, so on if 8.2 and off when I hit 8.3. I had this set to 8.3 to 8.4, but after a calibration I fell .1. I confirmed this with another freshly calibrated Pinpoint pH monitor I recently purchased. I'm finding these probes can drift pretty quickly and now plan to calibrate monthly.

Left the 22nd, corals aren't happy I'm back, but the fish are! Brought back a cryptic six line wrasse and Japanese Snapping shrimp with me to join the gang
