So a lil update.
I recently started using Chemi-pure elite in my hob filter, water is CRYSTAL clear!!
I have almost everything ordered for the setup of this 40 breeder.
I have a Fijicube 800gph overflow.
I'm going to hard plumb the entire setup with dual 1" drilled returns with 3/4" loc line y'd off on each side going into quad wide flared nozzle tips.

A little more in depth, each sides return will incorporate 1" thread x slip bulkhead threaded into that will be a reducing coupler to go to 3/4" threads then the 3/4" loc line adapter screws into that then directly on the adapter will be a Y and then 2 short pieces of loc line with wide flare nozzle tips at the ends. (The short loc lines will be the 6 segment loc lines halved into 2x 3 segment lines.)
I have a crude drawing of what I'll be doing except I edited it and added some red lines where I'll be putting extra unions.
Also in that drawing I accidentally crossed the drains OOPS! And there is 2x 45s coming out of a T...I'm going to replace all that with a 1" pvc Y slip/slip/slip connector to reduce fittings and cost.

Right away next month I'll be ordering the final pieces needed to set this all up.
She wants vikings colors plumbing so here's a preview of that as well.
I will document the build when it happens and post it up on here.

Looks good. I would suggest doing a union on the emergency overflow drain as well. Next to your primary's union below the OF.

For easy removal, issues, or for whatever u may need to do so for. Cleaning, a move. Whatever. I had to put 3 unions on my synergy shadow. Was a pain but itll be worth it when the time comes if I need to remove it.

A few things I forgot to add from my previous post.
I ordered a 3 way 1" pvc Y connector.
I ordered a 1" true union check valve to stop back siphoning during power outages.
I ordered a Jebao 6500 DCP return pump.
I ordered Brightwell CoralAmino amino acid supplement.
I ordered BRS soda ash to raise the ALK of the Tropic Marin Pro salt.
I figured with the frequency of water changes and limited amount of corals I don't need to dose anything else since Ca & Mg will be replenished with the WCs.

Drilling the tank tomorrow!!
Plenty to do this week before the setup and transfer:
Temporarily move the 20gal tank; to work on the stand.
Tongue and groove the bottom of the stand for the sump to sit on.
Measure, cut, clock then dry fit the plumbing together for gluing.
Remove from the Brute and install the apex to the stand.

Next month I'll order a pH probe for the apex, the current one doesn't work anymore.
Thinking out loud here, I may hard plumb the main drain straight into the Clari Sea roller filter in the sump.

Done drilling all went well.
Just washed it off, waiting for it to dry so I can go back outside and plasti-dip the backside I just drilled.

Has your daughter decided on anything in particular she wants?
She wants some sort of rainbow acan, pipe organ and trio of flame cardinalfish....so far!

I thought about those pipe organs for a long time to fill in the bare bottom. They are nice because they grow reasonably slow. A lot of similar corals just take over.

Specifically the one she likes

I personally like this one

They are cool, very similar style to gsp without the invasive part.
Being a hard body but soft coral is neat too.
And the glowing under actinic is amazing!
