Combing through the past few pages I realized I have mentioned a 120 gallon tank to replace the 40 breeder in my living room.
I still haven't posted the pictures of that tank.
I have the sump baffle kit and new 40 breeder that I will silicone together in the coming days.
Then I will need to double check everything needed before enlisting help to get the tank from the garage into the house.
If I had to guess I'd say a month to 6 weeks until I start a new thread regarding the 120.
I have a tank, T5 light and stand.

Here it is:

So, I'm feeding the fish after work this evening and notice Madeline the larger clownfish chasing Dory away, quite aggressively.
So I decide to watch her more closely, she goes to the bottom corner of the tank and flips over and flutters at the glass, after 5 minutes of thinking "what's wrong with her", I notice some small reddish brown dots on the glass and Nemo coming to flutter on top of them.
It dawns on me they're spawning!!
I'm super excited!!

Here is a shot of them beginning to spawn this evening.

I think I have my sump set up the way I want.
From left to right
Chamber 1 - Roller Filter
Chamber 2 - Skimmer
Chamber 3 - Heater/Fuge section (No plans for fuge at the moment) Change my mind...Always open to suggestions
Chamber 4 - Media Tray/Bubble Trap
Chamber 5 - Return Pump/ATO
Going to use painters tape on both sides of each panel/joint for thick and clean lines
Using ASI Black Aquarium Silicone I bought from BRS

Any pointers or suggestions before I stick this thing together with silicone?

hi,looks great to me!! @Fishy65 any tips on sump?
The hardest seals will be in your close together tall baffles. Depending on the fit of your baffles, spacers can help ensure silicone joints are solid. Good luck. I just did a custom sump with glass baffles.

Getting excited!
I'm about 2 weeks from set up!!
I have my sump siliconed together.
Just need to get the 120 carried in from the garage and start messing around with a couple plumbing bits before initial set up.
I've been sitting here trying to do puzzles in my head of how I'd make 40 gallons of RODI, heat and mix salt then get that in the aquarium in a decent amount of time while the fish corals are in buckets waiting for the tank to be filled.
So my answer is; I need to go grab another 44 Brute can make an extra mix container temporarily, the one I already have full, plus the 40 gallons in the current tank will only get me to 80 of the 120 needed.
I just spoke for 25# of live rock with a bunch of coral on it, to get the tank seeded properly.
I just ordered a bottle of Fritzyme as well to help with bacteria availability.
I was kind of worried about messing up the cycle having 75% new Saltwater with 25% old Saltwater but with the Fritz and 3 year old live rock I feel pretty safe about throwing fish and corals in right away.
I also ordered a nifty pump that sucks from the bottom and can empty a bucket or whatever it's in down to 2mm from the bottom!

This will be used for water transfer from here on out during water changes; dirty water out the window and then SW Brute can to tank.

I'm going bare bottom, high flow.
My goal is to get the bottom encrusted with Leptoseris, Cyphastrea and GSP.
I've attached a photo of the rock with coral that I'm getting.
For rock there's a tower, arch and cave totalling 25# or so.
Corals included are GSP, Xenia, Cespitularia and small amount of pink zoas.

Step 1: Get the tank moved from garage into the house - CHECK!

IMG_7431.jpg

Step 2: Tomorrow pick up 1x3 furring strips, 44gal Brute and black spray paint for the strips.
Going to use the furring strips to beef up the stand a bit, just for peace of mind.

Now I'm throwing around the idea of flipping the tank and painting the bottom, since I'm going bare bottom this time.
Any thoughts, tips or suggestions on this?
who else reading this is running a bare bottom tank?

I made a deal to get some live rock from a local reefer, that fell through. (Or so I thought)
So I placed an order at @Gulf Live Rock for 20lb of Premium Decorative Live Rock and 20lb of Coralline Base Live Rock.
Hours later the local guy got back to me and I can still get that 25lb of live rock with corals too!!
I'll be adding a ton of biodiversity to this tank from Day 1.
I may throw the Decorative Live Rock into a 20 gallon and cycle it to watch what comes out of it and make sure I'm not adding any die-off into the new tank.
Getting excited, this is becoming very real very quickly.
Now I'm planning the move in my head as to draining the 40B into totes and heating circulating one with the fish/anemones, then the rest of the water into buckets.
Next I'll move 40B/Stand out of the way setup 120/Stand and start filling.

This is where I get stuck...
If starting this 120 with 3 separate sources total of 70lb live rock, 30lb dry rock and a Brightwell Brick soaked in Microbacter 7 in the sump; will this tank start a new cycle? If so how long before I add my fish and corals?
I do have a bottle of Fritzyme turbostart 9000 to insta-cycle a tank...Should I use this and then check nitrites/nitrates/ammonia? Or just start adding livestock after Fritzyme?
I'm hoping to set up and add livestock within 24hrs of breaking down the 40B.
Is this possible with my setup described?
