Halides are still king! Beautiful tank.

Thank you! The halide/T5/LED combo has worked well. Never had to pick just one! Running three 250 W Radiums on an electronic ballast at 250 HQI setting. It's been about 16 months since I changed the bulbs on the halides, and I'm due to change them soon....

Awesome tank and system my friend!
Your corals and fish are truly on another level, very well done :)

Thanks Perry, I appreciate the kind words.

Looking good!

@revhtree tank of the month?

Thank you. Flattered, but not sure about that.

The tank is doing well overall and everything is growing. The one thing I'm troubleshooting right now is a couple months back the polyp extension on several of the acros got worse, and I haven't quite figured it out.

No evidence of any pests on dips or inspection. I suspect the angel may be lightly nipping, but no real damage, and I haven't seen him do it, just suspicious. My hands were in the tank a bit more than usual couple months back. Or possibly may be related to chemistry when I changed salts a couple months back. Also possible, it's unrelated to any of those things.

I may not ever figure it out, but everything is continuing to grow so I'm not doing too much about it right now. I've been keeping my hands out and keeping things stable, and will see if the polyp extension improves.

Utterly epic.

Thank you! Happy with how things are growing in after 2.5 years

Hey question. I am using Brightwell for reef (code a/b liquid) ALK,CA and MG, what is everyone using? After of year the 300 is starting to suck down mg and alk. CA is finally at 400...I could never get it down past 500. SO now I am dosing...just trying to see what is working for you all. I really don't want to go to cal reactor ..

Currently, I'm dosing with the Red Sea alkalinity, calcium, and magnesium supplements. Currently I use about 80 mL of the alkalinity solution / day. It's simple and easy to adjust.

I was using a Kalk stirrer and this reduced the volume of the calcium / alkalinity dosing, but ultimately I turned it off. I own a calcium reactor, but I haven't implemented it.

Tank is doing well. Survived me being out of town for a couple weeks. Happy to report polyp extension much improved. The polyp extension worsened for a few weeks, and I was considering if it could be nipping from the goldflake. Angelfish was innocent after all and not responsible for the worsened polyp extension. Only intervention was to bump up the water flow, cleaned and recalibrated the skimmer, and otherwise stable chemistry.

Recent ICP test from prior to the trip. Parameters stable, phosphates down below 0.1 for the first time since tank was 6 months old. Nitrates had bottomed out to zero a few months back. I dialed back on the volume of TM elimi-np for the carbon dosing, and feel there's good balance between the heavy feeding and nutrient export.

Salinity 35 psu
kH 7.7
Ca 432
Mg 1396
Nitrate 2.7
Phosphate 0.07

Hung's rainbow, growing well. Tempted to cut a frag that's getting shaded, but don't want to disturb the growth.
