Sea lettuce smell?

So i got my first sea lettuce today (the chaeto And mangroves are from before) (put the pad in because it kept blocking the baffel into return compartment) and is really stinking up the house. Is this normal? Im I doing something wrong? Is it dead / bad? Will the smell go away? This is my first time using this stuff and still setting up the sump. I wanted to grow the lettuce to feed my tangs

Mine doesn't have an odor that I can tell, but I rinsed it in rodi before putting it in my tank. I had some red ogo that died in shipping and it stank to high heavens. But it literally looked like it was completely dead

Looked completely fine. I did not rinse it off though.
