I have a 90 gallon reef. Inhabitants are 2 clowns, 4 bengaii cardinals, an arrow crab and coral banded shrimp. Am wondering if seahorses are an option in this setup?

Really difficult mixing seahorses with a reef. They are slow non-agressive eaters, need cool water and low flow, which you do not find in a reef tank.

I agree with everything that has been said. I keep my seahorses with fish that are considered to be more peaceful.

Shrimp are often discouraged to keep with Seahorses because they often pick on them and are very aggressive eaters. (At least mine are) When I had my Seahorses I had a seashell that I put in the sand and that was like their "feeding bowl." And even them it took them about 20-30 minutes to eat until they were full! Long story short, no they wouldn't work together. Best kept with pipefish and mandarins...

No, they will die.

They require a species tank with only sea horses and pipefish.

I have to disagree. Seahorses should only be housed with captive bred pipefish. Wild caught pipefish carry pathogens that can kill seahorses and the same can be said for seahorses to pipefish. Seahorses can do quite well with peaceful fish like clown gobies, cardinals, and mandarins. There are others that make great tank mates.
