Started my reef tank cycling in early July. Used dry rock and normal bagged substrate and did Red Sea Reef mature program to get things going. Had a vision of what I wanted to see and impetuously added an expensive Acro 6 weeks in. I did reefing 5 years prior and did moderately well with some acros. I definitely thought this Acro would be a slam dunk with my care and monitoring. The tank I have now is about 160 gallons water volume with sump and Dt. I do my best to keep parameters near NSW. Of course this Acro turned white with little polyp extension. 4 and a half months later, I bought some AF Life Source, and began using it every other week or so. What happened in a very short time has been cool to observe. Polyps came back out first. Then the color began to change very gradually. After using 3 times, some brighter colors are showing around the polyps upon close viewing. Today it is still an off color but I’m seeing it gradually turn more turquoise. Definitely never wrote this coral off, but it was a white stick with no polyps for some time. I really think the AF Life Source turned this around. Not out of the woods yet, but I chose to post this after seeing an improvement. Maybe it would have been better to cycle longer and achieve greater stability before taking on my first Acro, but I thought this was pretty cool to see some turning points I attribute to using the mud. I’m an intermediate at best in this hobby, but wanted to share what I observed. Things are progressing smoothly in my reef tank. Coralline has been getting more prominent, rather quickly. Hope I don’t seem like some promoter to AF. Just wanted to share that this product was beneficial in my reefing.

This post is useless without pics. ;)
Just kidding but before and after pics would be cool. Glad to hear you have what sounds like a happy ending.
This is my best success story yet but rather than using anything special I just pulled the piece and moved it to a different tank after removing the dead.

Agreed, Good point on no pics. I don’t really have any direct shots of the Acro before. It wasn’t photo worthy. 1st pic I just took. 2nd pic is right before Christmas 2024 when I began using the mud. 4th photo is prior to mud use if you can zoom in on it up top, slightly left. Maybe in 2026 it will be what I dreamed when it was added. Hope this is not a disservice to AF, but in a month things are happening with that stick!
