Hi,
Im thinking about setting up my fish room and not sure how to run the cables.
Specifically I don't know what to do with apex I guess all those should be in the fish room since all the probes will be in the sump.
What if I want to run a sensor to the main tank like the leak sensor under the tank? Do i just get a longer wire?

When it comes to the mp40s and XR lights I plan to keep it all by the main tank inside the stand.

Yes you'd want the controller closer to the tank.

You can get extensions, but their accuracy might degrade over length.

What is the reason to have it by the tank? most of the probes will go in the sump

I was just re-watching BRStv's video on mixing stations for my own basement sump/mixing setup and daisy-chained USB cables to a distant module like the LDK, FMM, etc is the way to go.

Mine is near my sump. Stuff I have in my tank upstairs including temp probe and water flow sensors I positioned the apex module as close as I could between head unit and tank and then the probe cable the rest of the way. I had about 10 feet of horizontal distance and 1 story in height and all reached without extensions.

Mine sits between the sump and tank on the wall, about 5 feet from either of them. Only thing running directly to the tank is the 4 powerheads (with extension cables). Everything else goes to the sump.
