OMG! Why???? Get a CUC they said! It will be good for your tank they said! It's like a scene from saving private Ryan in my tank right now!

Within 15 second of being introduced my wrasse initiated this all out war. He gobbled up an unsuspecting crab as he let out his battle cry with a full belly to gloat!

    20190314_103902.jpg 20190314_104133.jpg

My puffer begins an assault on the tank like nerite snail. Unable to pierce his armor he leaves the large snail alone to be settled during another battle!

Next my crab goes for an easy target. One small snail is ripped from his shell like notning!

    20190314_120750(0).jpg 20190314_120751.jpg

One snail down. Just then my fish smell fresh slime! (Snails don't bleed right?). The wrasse swoops in and grabs the snail meat from the crab. My crabs antenna is no match for the varascious bite of my Valentin puffer. The fish swarm the crab as it lay wounded on the battlefield.

OMG I can't watch anymore. ;Vomit

Grab any survivors that are left and put them in the sump. They're not going to be ok in the display.

    :(

You have a lot of fish that will make short work out of cuc.
I guess the tank is feed for the day.

Yeah I forgot to mention that I fed some mysis right after the wrasse ate the first crab. Figured it would help curb his aggression/appetite. Guess I was wrong.

Well what good is a CUC in a sump. Nitrates are 2-5 and phosphate 0 right now so hopefully this battle doesn't foul up the tank. I just think I have to let nature take its course at this point. I thought about putting the fish in the sump but either way I don't think it will do any good.

to control nutrients you will need something in the line of a refigium. Also throwing them in the sump is so more deaths won't take place.

Mels are reef safe because of tbe corals any crabs or shrimp are fair game.

Crab is acting cool like nothing happened. He's just grabbing a snack. Nothing to see here.

Depends on the size of the crabs because mine would try my emerald without success but he did clean out my hermits and a few nassarius still haven 2-3 left strawberry conch were also spared with my porcelain crabs and Pom Pom But of course size matters mine was still a juvenile they get more aggressively hunters as they mature

A little rest near the rock after a snack. Even my CUC is savage. Hoping his big size will help him to stay alive. 20190314_130915.jpg

Smaller crabs are scaling the rocks unnoticed so far.

It's the crab that he just ate. Him and my puffer seem to instantly puff up in the stomach right after eating. Usually try not to feed to that point, but in this case he decided on his portion size. Usually goes down a bit by the next day. Wish I could say the same for my stomach! haha.

FYI the killing seemed to have commenced for the most part for today. The crabs are probably still picking off the small snails. Fish eating crabs, and crabs eating snails shouldn't really spike nutrients too much right? I mean it's not like they are dying and rotting right?

I mean.... this isn't funny, but your narrative and storytelling on this gave me a good laugh.
