Still working on getting the rooster to take anything but live ghost shrimp. He picks at frozen foods but I can see the “you expect me to eat this” look on his face.
In the meantime, he hunts down ghosts like he hasn’t eaten in weeks. Here’s a shot of him having a standoff with one (if you can even make it out - it’s just to his left):

Hey there,,, lovin' the tank.

Question about your placement of powerhead in front of HOB as opposed to on opposite side:
Did you experiment with different placements and find that best or just try that first and it worked out?

I just started with that and it seemed to work out. I didn’t want too many areas getting pounded by super hard flow so I figured that would work. Nowhere in the tank appears to be getting inadequate flow.

Thanks,,, last question:
What are you running in either/both of your HOBs? (Think I saw you turned one into a fuge)

Are using the included matrix (pumice) in either?
*having issues since I swapped out two, smaller HOBs with lots of sponge growth inside for single Tidal 110 so just curious

I have the stock sponges and the bio balls in both. In the larger one I run carbon and occasionally phosguard as well.

A rather shocking development in the reef this morning. Eve seems to have lost a good portion of her body. I can’t tell if this was the result of aggression or some other injury, but it certainly looks infected, and despite her acting fairly normal right now, I highly doubt she’ll survive much longer. She has been in hiding much more today, and the pistol shrimp is doing everything it can to help the goby, and has been literally pushing and pulling her in and out of the burrow. Nevertheless, she’s still defending the burrow like a champ and is fighting off intruders. I’ll be surprised if she pulls through, but I’m still somewhat hopeful.

Update:
Things are looking pretty good, and corals are doing great. I’ve been dosing carbonate and nitrate which are proving effective in helping balance parameters. I’ve also introduced the waspfish, and one day in, he seems to be adjusting well. Ensuring he continues eating may be challenging, but hopefully he continues to do well.
Eve has recovered pretty well from the attack. Her tail is healing nicely, though I doubt the fin will fully regenerate. I am surprised by how resilient she is, though!!

Yesterday, I added Gurgle into the tank, and he’s already adjusted wonderfully!! No major aggression issues just yet! The scorpionfish is also doing well, from what I can tell. He hides a lot, so monitoring his behavior can be rather tricky. Lastly, it seems Luxo got into another fight with the angelfish, which happens rather frequently nowadays. It looks like she got an eye infection this time around, so now I’m debating whether I should pull her and treat her, or let the infection be, and hopefully it will disappear with proper feedings and water quality.

I like my springer. he's never done anything wrong, at least not in front of me.
It’s probably the one damsel I’ve never heard a complaint about - I’m more worried about how the clowns/angel react to it but there should be enough open territory.
