Great pix Shawn!
Would you be able to give us a rundown of the photographic equipment you use?
I'm thinking of finally getting a decent camera. Thanks! :)
Thank you!

Well I use the Canon EOS 750D and certainly I’m very pleased with it.

I also have a Canon Macro lens as below which unfortunately aren’t cheap.

When I purchased the camera, to become a ‘marine photographer’ (!lol) I studied a few books and also the very helpful app from Canon that shows you what to do.

I also purchased the electronic version of ‘how to create stunning digital photography’ by Tony Northrup which is very good and comes linked to videos and all sorts. It also shows you how to use your camera in detail on the video links.

How beneficial were the books? What level of experience did you have before you reas the books?

Your pictures are stunning! Well done

The book was very helpful and still is, especially the video links included.

I had zero experience of anything other than pressing the standard automatic green button setting. You really start to learn and be creative once you start using the camera properly, and then you get ideas, angles etc. It’s amazing the difference an angle can make.

Also what makes a major difference is editing, not changing the actual picture, but background light and colours. This makes a dramatic difference to the final picture. I just use my iPad and it’s very simple

The following picture is a sand anemone using a Macro lens

I decided to take a plunge into real cameras and I am getting Canon Rebel SL3. This brand new model is coming out next week. I will also get Tony Northrup's book you recommended. Will wait with macro lens till I learn how to use it. Time to start learning. :)

That’s a good idea, you can learn how to use the camera first and then get whatever lenses you need.

When you go Macro, it can get expensive, and you will also need a tripod as well.

Is there a Royal Grampa
It’s taken me all day to get what you mean! Lol

Thought what’s he on about! Lol

Maybe I’m a bit slow today, or maybe it’s my English pronunciation of it

Any tripod recommendations?
Preferably one that has 3 rather than 1 or 2 legs!

Do a search under best tripods and then just pick the one in whatever price range your looking at. I think I paid about £65 for mine (cant remember the make!).
