My nitrates in the S650, have been around 18-20ppm as an approximation (mid range test result) for ever, and I mean ages. I only test nitrate every 2-3 weeks as it’s always the same, never moves. I have massive amounts of both mechanical and biological filtration but it neither goes up or down.

So I’ve been thinking about it as you do for ages, and I’ve come to the conclusion that because of the fish load, and I have a few, there will always be a certain amount of nutrients in the water column whenever I test.

The tank glows with life, so I’ve stopped worrying about it. Nopox is dosed at just above the maximum level because higher doses didn’t make any difference other than haze the glass quicker.

I haven’t done a water change since May but I’m seriously considering hooking it up to the new auto water change system with DOS. I don’t think I could bare to get rid of the tank as I’ve spent so much time with it and with a few equipment changes it would be much easier to maintain.

And at night with the new tank it just looks, well, beautiful.........

This makes a good amount of sense. So long as things are stable and you're not seeing issues related to high nutrient loads, it shouldn't be an issue. You'll always see that balance and constant cycling of the nutrients.

I can post the fish picture now as it’s just won a competition here in the UK and a 12 month subscription to Ultra Marine Magazine

Thanks Guys for the compliments!

I installed the sump lights yesterday which are basically 12v low voltage strip lights and plugged into Apex so I can turn them on from anywhere in the world to look into the sump if I need to.

Also the sump is huge, I’m not sure these pictures show it but it is

And now for the arrival of the new custom made 2000 litre system. I will call this shot the new and the old. You can see the reflection of the S650 in the glass. September 2019 the big build begins.....

Hi Guys

I've just started my new build thread on here and my tank has reached 1 year old this month.

This is pretty much my first tank of any kind, other than a Max E260 which I had for a few months before getting hooked on the hobby.

I've learned quickly as much as I can. Anyway, I know everyone likes pictures so here are a few and also a video link if it's works!

Thank you!

The big tank pictures above are just on an iPhone 10 so quick shots

However for the main pictures which your probably referring to I use a Canon EOS 750D with either the standard lens, or the Canon Macro below. I didn’t pay that much though! Lol

I have been eying a macro lens for a while... I'll get one as soon as I stop spending all my money on corals loll

The lense makes all the difference. I don't use the Macro all the time, mainly for up close coral shots and standard Canon lens is also very good.

I usually only take pictures on a rainy day when i have nothing to do and then I have a supply to edit as needed. I dont do any major editing mainly light corrections etc which make a major difference to the final picture.
