With the winter and a few trips away I haven’t done a water change for nearly 4 weeks and that’s the longest period between changes ever since I set up the tank.

Were there any ill effects of leaving it that long ? Not at all. All parameters when I checked them last week were unchanged including Nitrate and phosphate which are around 12 and 0.-0.03 respectively. All foundation elements were stable and within normal levels thanks to the auto doser.

I also changed out the Rhowaphos reactor which generally lasts 3-4 weeks before it starts to clog up, which is why I try and keep the sump area as clean as I can with various methods of filtration.

Anyway pictures....

Here are a few pictures of ‘one’ of the new corals I purchased a few days ago. I haven’t got a clue what it’s name is as my brain can’t ‘compute’ coral names lol!

Shaun,
The new coral is beautiful :)
I know Freddie!

It’s actually quiet incredible the small ‘make up’ of these corals. You can’t see any of that detail with just your eyes at all. Yes it looks nice but close up, wow......

Very nice, lovely colour.
Thanks Simon

It’s amazing the details and colours you can see on some of the marine life when you get up close to it.

My old camera is a Sony bridge and is partially broken, if I hold it touching the glass square on it focus as close a one cm, the glass is one cm thick, result! ;)

Here are just a few up to date full tank shots and end views.

The first is as the Reef is just waking up at sunrise and you can see the green star polyps are only just opening

There are a few new corals in place as well.

How the hell do you not have corals being chewed lol?! ;)
Looks great, was that a pectina on the sandbed, I forget stuff? :)
The fish are all primarily ‘reef safe’ and don’t tend to bother the corals to much. Well apart from the Regal/Blue Tang that ate all my Zoa colonies! And also the Freckle Face Tang seems to be munching on the green star polyps from time to time, but that’s fine as I have lots!

The Spiny Pectinia is at the centre front of the tank in the sand so yes it is.

Beautiful tank, and nice photos

Per my experience with many angels large and dwarf, the majority eats Zoas and Acans, except the Genicanthus angels that are 100% reef safe.

If you feed heavily and started with colonies of Zoas and Acans they can have a chance, for small frags I am afraid that there is no chance.

This is my good friend ‘Dougy’ as we call him.

He always looks a little bit grumpy, well a lot grumpy really, but he’s a real character....

He likes to basque in the lush grass.
