I have a 15 gallon quarantine which has been running for about 2 weeks with adding pellets, i am currently gonna be getting a few fish, i am gonna be adding some of the fish in the qt which has the same salinity of the lfs

One of the fish is a blue spotted watchman goby and i wanted to add him in the main tank since he's already been quarantined in the lfs but the salinity difference is quite high since the lfs uses 1.017 and my 180 gallon system is about 1.025, i believe that even the snails i am getting is kept at 1.017 but I don't know exactly but if that is indeed the case what would be the best acclimation procedure for this?

The shipment is usually about 8 hours and the delay now is about 16 hours though the owner of the lfs assured me that the packing would last about 24 hours

So total travel time would be 16 hours?
Or is it standard 8, and now an additional 16 hours?
I don't think there would be too much worry, I'd check temp and salinity once you get it and document it.
Others can input more.

This has some helpful advice with acclimating shipped fish.

Take water, freshly mixed or tank water is probably fine, lower it to 1.017, float and add the fish to there (bucket). Then you can slowly increase from there (with an air stone) without worrying about bag ammonia.

The ideal way is to have a conditioning/qt tank where you would float and add and bring it up over a number of days.

I really appreciate the info, even though I did not try it, it already feels like it would be the best way, what would you recommend for the turbo snails?

They should be at reef salinity. Just add them but make sure they don’t smell like death.

Many venders don’t even ship snails in water, just wet paper towels. This limits them fowling the bag.

It seems that the delay has gotten another additional 20 hours with the added 24 hours from previous

Oof, hope they come in alive. Is it just snails?
About a dozen turbo snails, blue spotted watchman, convict tang, threadfin butterfly, banded brittle star and a few macroalgaes, i sure do hope that they come alive, really appreciate the sentiment

Garlic, parsley, and butter!
Jk make sure they have plenty of algae to eat or you'll watch them die.

Update: thankfully my shipment arrived but it was sadly too late for the threadfin butterfly, I could see that he was dead quite a long back since the water in the bag was foul, the bag in which the convict tang was in was leaking, i am quite surprised that the convict tang lived through it, but nonetheless the brittle star and the snails were acclimated nicely since they started moving the instant i added them to my tank

So in enclosed bags, pH drops and this makes ammonia less toxic, so what happens when you open the bag or try to add water to that bag for acclimating is the pH will rise and the ammonia will become much more toxic.

This is why you don’t want them in the bag water. You should only need to float for 10-15 min and open the bag and remove them immediately to fresh clean water that matches salinity.

Fish can go down in salinity easy but not up. So really just don’t have it too high when you move them. Within 2 points is ideal.
