I have ordered corals from almost all well known vendors and shipping damage has occurred at some point with all. Sadly the carriers are not always friendly. Fragile or Live animals usually means, do not throw more than 10 feet.
On a positive note the “freebie “ looks nice

It just stinks cause it was an auction and I won these nice pieces super cheap so the credit would be like a kick to the you know what. Hopefully I can get a replacement coral of the same specimen. Here’s the other two they look better than the first pic but definitely stressed , I think the water was just too cold it felt like refrigerator water when I took them out, one of the downsides of living in the north.

Good news on your concern..... unlike many vendors, ASD generally has multiples of everything they sell and will likely have a duplicate for you.

Updated photos of the two corals that looked like 5ey had a fighting chance. Not blaming the seller but this is disappointing d not hopeful looking. I have very nice sps and LPS growing in my tank and always on top of water / equipment maintenance parameters light alk phos nitrates all that jazz and these guys just look like they’re on a death bed unfortunately. I bought a chalice from another vendor a month ago it looked way better than these. I don’t have much experience with chalices in how hey recover from shipping but doesn’t seem very likely to me.

I've had this happen to a few chalice over the years and it seems like they always turn it around once I get them off of the sand bed. Stick them on a rock just a bit higher and I'll bet they start looking better soon.

That's a bummer I would have to imagine they would make it right

I would say the majority of my coral is ASD. Everything has always shown up top notch.

Which chalice in the wysiwyg pic do you think this is? The water was super cold when it arrived. I get disappointed when I spend good money and run into this stuff.

Send back doa

While I certainly agree there could be some compensation for the condition. This chalice is far from dead and under proper care could make a full recovery. Sending it back in this shape would for sure mean death.

I've had the opposite experience. Everything I've ever bought from ASD has been top notch and the freebies have been turds. The last time I bought something I said to my wife ASD must have thought to themselves - what color doesn't he have? Brown! Send this man some free brown pieces to fill that void in his tank! :)

Corals don’t do well in Shipping. It’s one of the reasons shipping corals are so expensive. Lots of precautions have to be taken. Some will handle it better than others. I’ve had two shipments of the half a dozen or so that I’ve received that ended up having a coral die. One of the shipments, the truck it was in got in a wreck or something. The box was destroyed. Most of them still survived. The other, one of them just randomly died. The company is super nice about it. But it’s going to happen sometimes. Unfortunately. ;Sorry At least you got a good deal on it and it wasn’t a piece that required a larger investment.

Yea corals definitely must hate being in a box shipped in a plane. I think the main problem with mine was the water got too cold , it was a cold night where I live in Massachusetts the day they shipped it. When I took the bag out it felt like a cold bottle of water so they probably were close to death. Thankfully the one in the picture I just shared is clearly bouncing back, I’ve been dosing a little more aminos than usual which I believe is helping them recover. Hopefully they get all their colors back. I know it takes time but I’m pretty confident they will look great I. The end , fingers crossed.

I’ve placed several orders with ASD and they have all been top notch!!
I love seeing all the good reviews about these guys it’s reassuring for me to make more purchases through them and they really are super nice , kinda wish I could change the title to this thread cause they are obviously really good at coral sales.
