Hey fishybizzness, the raw wood stand in the pictures above was for a SCA 150 penninsula. I used a 2 x 6 beam for the top plate anything over 48 in I used two by sixes 4ft tanks I used two by fours. I would say these stands are rated about three or four times the actual weight of tank water sand and rock. They are extremely overbuilt. On my 90 gallon I have a 4 inch ledge around the perimeter of the tank that I walk on when placing rocks and corals need be without hesitation and I'm a big guy. The original rocket engineer design is tried-and-true and excessive Imo. The stand usually weigh about as much as the tank once complete
Thanks for the reassurance! I'll definitely be using 2×6s for the main beams top and bottom. Never too strong imo..

Here is one I just made. Just added water yesterday. You can find more about the build in the nano forum section.
Full removable front and sides. I HATE climbing though cabinet doors.

3/4" birch front(That's two pieces on the front) and sides, 3/4" regular plywood on the bottom, back and top. Used kreg jig and glue, solid as a rock and tons of room.

Here are pics of the stand I built for a 55g. Still needs doors, a sanding, and a good finish, just being test fit here. All 3/4" maple veneer ply.

Just put together the stand tonight. Need to build the door and shelves. The BioCube 32 is a new setup. Will add fish at the end of the cycle.

Cool, If a this was done on a big stand, with hidden casters, that would be super serviceable.

I would stay away from plywood. It just gets wet and starts to deteriorate. Here’s a pic of my mixing tank stand.

A kreg jig is cool for small things around the house but fully unsuitable for structural applications that are going to carry hundreds or thousands of pounds. Don't trust me, ask Kreg.

Mortise and tenon, bridle joints, pinned m-t are all much better options with long grain to long grain glue surface areas.

If you are using plywood, you can actually build a bridle joint into your laminations so you don't have to cut out the recess.

Good luck builders!
