Some hobbyists run both carbon and GFO in the same reactor with a sponge or floss separating the two media. As long as the media does not tumble but has flow through it, you will be fine. IM reactors are compact and designed to fit their aquariums.
The tank comes with a 476gph return pump already. Where were you planning on putting the 2nd one?

On the Nuvo 40 there is barely enough room to run the 1/2 hose behind the filter sock and wont really work with the 40 caddy. I've been experimenting between overflow chamber and the one next to it. So far I like the hose right behind the filter sock (which keeps the sock in place) and the pump running below it. Reactor return is in the chamber next to it. I had thought about the IM reactor but wasn't too keen on more objects sticking out the back sump. I had a Aquamaxx HOB-1 skimmer off the back between the two Radion/RMS mounts but it was over kill and an eye sore. I just keep up with 5 gal water changes weekly.

I have a Custom Caddy out of my Nuvo 20 that doesnt fit in the first chamber of the Abyss Peninsula because of a acrylic lip on the overflow. How does evryone fit their custom caddys in the first chamber?

Not too sure if the custom caddy's fit the Peninsula/dropoff series tanks. @MarineDepot can you confirm?

For the return pump, the Sicce Syncra 2.0 would be a nice upgrade. For hang-on reactors, the AquaMaxx FR-SE Reactor packages would work great. The kit includes a Via Aqua pump already. If you would like to upgrade the pumps on the reactors, you can buy an FR-SE reactors by itself and purchase a Sicce Micra pump for GFO and/or the Micra Plus for carbon.

My plan was to get 2 small pumps that are small enough to fit in the sump. I was hoping to put the bulk part of the pump under the glass baffle so the hose would run up the side of the glass into a reactor then from the back to the return nozzle. I have seen it on MD video on the upgrade of the Nuvo 20 or jbj45 I can't think of what tank it was. I was hoping that 2 smaller pumps would be a little quieter then the 476 gph. Then I could be able to run 2 reactors. The IM reactor does not look that good to me and I have read a lot of review saying it hard to see the tumble rate.

Use the stock pump for the two returns on the Nuvo 40. I would personally go with the Sicce Micra plus pumps. I have 6 of them and they're quiet and reliable not to mention about the smallest pump you can get. The GPH (158 GPH) output is plenty for media reactors. MD usually has pumps on sale which I believe the sale just ended. They normally run about $26-30 per pump. The flow would be to low to run back to the return. Either you would need to get a bigger pump that could do it all or two Sicce 2.0 most likely. Reef Octopus Varios 2 should get you by with the two media reactors and return flow. Its a nice controllable pump. May be a bit of a tight fit.

It would be tricky. The stock pump pushes 566GPH. Divided into 2, that’s 283GPH each—which is much too strong for a reactor. We would be interested to hear more suggestions from the R2R community on this one (thanks @Highgrade!).

We believe the CustomCaddy 20 will fit, although we've reached out to Innovative Marine for confirmation (haven't yet heard back).

My brand new IM nuvo 50 lagoon. Been up not quite a week. Running a custom caddy, one filter sock, diy chaeto reactor, and will add the tunze 9004 skimmer later. But the skimmer will only fit in the first chamber

Innovative Marine told us the following:

To answer your question, the CustomCaddy 20 will fit the Peninsula, but will need to be placed in the 2nd baffle chamber. This way the customer will still be able to utilize the micron sock.
