This might be a stupid question but I ordered a Reef Octopus VarioS-6 Controllable DC Circulation Pump for my reefer 450 and was wondering will that plumb directly to the 450 or will modifications be needed to hook it up and if so how difficult will that be? I ask because this is my first tank using a sump so this is all new to me and I feel I'm in over my head before I've even set anything up.

It comes with most all hook ups for different situations. It has hose barbs and unions and o rings and stuff. You'll know which you need to use once you have your plumbing set up. Good Luck and it's way easy with the reefers. I thought I would have a hard time as well. It's easy pesy.

When I first installed the AquaMaxx reactor I had plans to run GFO/Carbon. Since I got the ATS online I don't want to run any GFO and my carbon usage has gone down. I decided to pull the pond matrix out of the media bag and place it in the reactor. I do also have pond matrix in the drain section of the sump -

Decided to build a light mount out of 8020. As a comparison this is a picture of the Kessils on the A Series Mounts -

The long span is 48", I went with 48" to reduce the shipping costs. There is a 11" piece mounted to the long span with that Tee'd off into a 18" span for light mounting. This is all series 10. I used the Kessil 90's to mount the lights to the 8020 -

I painted a board white on the top, this section can be seen on the opening of the Red Sea Reefer stand. Drilled some holes and bolted the 8020 bracket to the board. Took a hacksaw to cut the bolts down.

Not the best side by side but it gives you an idea -

Had a small piece of rubble rock laying in my cabinet, was to lazy to take it into the garage and put it in my bucket of rock so I dropped it into the tank. Crazy to see how white the rock once was compared to the background and the current color of my rock work.

Where'd you score the pvc lid fitting s for your aquamaxx? I accidentally broke my lid and had to purchase a new one but it came with barbed fittings and I can't seem to locate adequate fittings to save my life.

For anyone who received their 525XL by drop shipment -- how many people did it take to carry your tank from curbside inside?

And if you and all your friends were 6'6 300#, please specify that

Is the pallet easily broken down so that the stand can be carried in separately from the tank?

Trying to figure out how many friends I need to gather at the same time once I get the call from the delivery guys!

I have the 250 so the baby tank, and this may differ from area to area. But I live in a culdesac and the trucking company wouldn't deliver to my house because of that. I met them up the road to pickup my tank and stand!

I remember reading that & being incredibly thankful I DON'T live on a culdesac!

Did they warn you about that ahead of time, or showed up saying sorry, can't actually deliver to your doorstep?

My XL425 was delivered by the LFS, they come in a crate. What they did was open the crate in my driveway and bring it in piece by piece with 2 of them. I talked to him a few weeks ago and he has sold quite a few 525's, does the same thing with breaking down the crate and bringing it in in pieces. He likes to have 3 people for the 525, but they have done it with 2 guys. The one guy is maybe 5'9/150 pounds. The one he hated was I believe the Max S-650, said they had 4 guys and struggled with it, but they had to go up a staircase

Thank you! I realize it's an odd question to ask, but I don't want to grab a friend or two that day & realize I should have asked 4 :(

I have the max 650, took 5 to get it in and put on stand. It was still heavy.
ok, really dumb question... you built the stand while you had all the people there? how long did it take to build? or you had your stand delivered beforehand?

The first tank was cracked on the top brace. I kept everything but the tank. It took several hours to assemble stand, lights, pumps, sump.
