Just got the octo lid for my 250 from @cromag08 . Must say I'm very pleased! Worked out the dimensions and and vertical tab thickness with him to minimize any cutouts as well as go over the overflow with the lid still on...fits perfectly and is a very clean design. Made the mesh nice and tight as well with the angled rims around the feeder door.

Tank's about 1.5 months old...very happy with the progress from lifeless reefsaver rock. No hair algae, no cleanup crew, nitrates 10 and dropping, phosphates nil. Major parameters stable and at good levels, coralline starting to grow like crazy on the rocks. I have the Kessil H380 with a Chaeto ball in the sump and so far I've removed about 5 softball sized clumps...growing like weeds.

That looks great! I'm not a fan of a lid on a rimless tank, but this one does look classy. The natural sunlight(?) coming in looks pretty cool too.

Thanks...My wife has indicated to me in no uncertain terms that there shall be no discovering of dead fish on the carpet, thus the cover :) And yea, the tank gets about 30 minutes of sun to a varying degree and depending on season (is about 20 ft. from the windows), which I kind of like...gives very natural colors.

Can you guys explain why I come up with different volume on the reefer 250 compared to Red Sea? I put 35.5 x 21 x 20 in a volume calculator and get 64.5 the Red Sea site shows 54 gallons??? I'm guessing Red Sea is figuring the actual water volume not the whole tank with water to the top?

I believe if you put in the actual dimensions of the tank into a volume calculator, that won't take into account the 1/2" thick glass...

I just put in 34.5 / 20 / 19.5 in a volume calculator and got 58.25, but that volume would require you to have your rimless tank 100% full to the brim, which you'll never have unless you like wet floors.

Just measured mine. Interior dimensions are 34.5 side to side, 18.75 front to back, 19.25 depth to water line, which works out to 53.9 gallon...truth in advertising for a change :)

Work in progress

I see a lot of metallic hose clamps in an enclosed humid saltwatery area. Keep an eye on your clamps.. those will rust in a hurry and can add some not so nice things to your tank water.

You are right and I have experience that 1st hand from my previous build it that was just temp solution to get me by until I get the plastic clamps.... I had zip ties on there but didn't trust them with all the head pressure there

This is my reefer 450. I need some ideas as to what I should use for flow. Right now I'm using 3 korarlyas. But I'm debating on the icecap 3k gyre or maxspec.

Any suggestions. Also should I get one or 2 pumps?
Have maxspec xf230 on THE 350 and love them with in the weeks time nose was gone

I have a reefer 250 with 2x AI prime HDs. I now realise I need more light. Wondering about putting a hydra52 in the middle flanked by the 2 primes or to simply cut my losses and buy two kessil 360s? I know either setup would give improved/ adequate light. I love the operating system for the AIs but love the way kessil lit tanks look. I know it is personal preference but anyone have an opinion or experience with either of these set ups?
I have RSR 350 with 2 AI Prime HD and the spread looks great however once tank starts to get filled with corals I will throw one more AI Prime HD for more efficient coverage
