Cant find anything, has anyone put in the automated filter rollers into their sump? I have a reefer 350. Thanks!

Harold, I talked to Klir, and they said that the nano and 170 are a bit too tight for their current setup. From the sounds of it - you shouldn't have a spacing issue in the 350.

When you talked to them, did how would it be installed come up? Is it as simple as removing the ATO reservoir, placing the KLIR it into the first filter sock holder, and block the second? Or are there permanent sump modifications?

They are supposed to be releasing a Red Sea adaptor. they need 1.5” of water for automatic model above the filter socks and read sea sump needs something to create a higher lip across.

Guys, since this very looong thread inspired my first Reefer 250 build, I wanted to share the link with you (in the signature field below). Please feel free to check out and hopefully, for those considering a similar build, this can be of help. Managed to get 3 reactors via manifold, equipment cabinet, 10g custom ATO and dosing containers, Nyos 120, etc etc all to fit. Looking back, one heck of a journey, very happy with progress so far! Feedback is welcome.

Stock plumbing here. No need for so much fancy stuff as it just complicates things.

Do you have issues with green and coralline Algae growing every where in your sump ?

I have an 80w bulb and considering getting a lower wattage. Might be to powerful.

I run a reefer 350 no refugium. Not hard at all. Monthly waterchanges. Refugiums are definitly NOT required.

That's reassuring to hear. I'm new and I know many people vouch for a refugium (and I'm sure there are benefits). However, I didn't want to spend a few extra hundred dollars to get the Red Sea 250 over the 170 just to get a refugium in the sump.

I may still convert the ATO into the refugium though. If I were, is the volume of the ATO even something that can make an impact for nutrient export? I believe the ATO holds about 1 gallon.

Also, I want to run a manifold with a Varios 4. What size piping should I use? 1/2 or 3/4?

My current tank is cycling however when i had refugium on my 150g i ran 2 of these bulbs over a 36G refugium and never had issues with coralline or algae growing anywhere else....try to control the light exposure using a black acrylic or anything you could use. Algae can only grow and survive in light.

Any tips on mounting refugium lights in the stand of a reefer 350? Added a refugium in the ATO and skimmer section but can't figure out where the best place to mount the UFO light is
