The 450 is 5’ long. I’m wondering what the coverage is with the 3 Hydra’s 26s vs 2 xr30s w/ diffusers.

Personally i would get single puck lights ie xr15 they give you more control ability over the light spread for 5ft you can probably get away with 4 depending on rock work but even 3 would be doable you can always add another

Just got a reefer 170 upgrade from a biocube 32. Absolutely loving the reefer tanks. Glass so clear and everything works so well. Knock on wood

Hello, I have a question reference lighting. I just set up a Reefer 450. I’m currently running a original maxspect razor 300w with 120 lenses. The problem I’m having is that per my Apex par meter, I’m having to run my lights 100% blue and 85-90% whites just to get to around 225 par on the top of my rock work. At that ratio the lights are too white for my liking.

I’m thinking of upgrading to either 3 AI Hydra 26HDs or two Radion xr30 pros. I’m not trying to rehash the ai Ecotech debate
But I’m trying to see what you guys feelings are for this size tank and mostly sps

I've got 2 custom LED strips and adding one Kessil 360W Tuna between them tomorrow. I love how mine looks with a bit less light toward the end and just place Coral accordingly

I built my Red Sea Reefer 170 stand but have 2 dowels left over. I think I got all the pieces in since I followed instructions but now I'm paranoid I missed something and the stand won't be as stable. Did anyone else have 2 dowels left over? I'm hoping Red Sea included 34 dowels rather than the intended 32...
Yeah, I had a couple of dowels. Oddly also a door. Maybe that’s why it looks so strange......

I run them both and they both produce approximately the same results.

Go with the 2 xr30s with diffusers. You will get a little fall out on par between lights and it will be a little more obvious when using a par meter with the three hydra pucks vrs the larger xr30s.

How hard is installing a manifold later down the line? I'm considering a manifold but the price is offputting (at least $200 for all of the plumbing + reactors) so I'm thinking of just media bags in the filter cup + a separate pump to feed ATO which will be a fuge. If I really need a manifold, I can install one later but is that possible after the tank is filled and running?

You can add later with no issues. The plumbing itself shouldn’t be more than $35-$40 MAX. I have this and it was maybe $40. Don’t count the apex piece.

Should be dead simple.

I'm not sure difference in coverage between the two. But my coverage on the 625 with just two xr30s is perfect. I have no problems and even corals in a little shade are getting the light they need and all my sps are responding great.

Yes a divider would work and yes keep your skimmer. Fuge only does part of what you need.

You can buy some acrylic from Lowe’s and can silicon it in place. Fuge doesn’t have to be huge. Get a good quality light and enjoy the benefits! I went with the Kessil H380 but it’s over kill but I didn’t go cheap on anything with the build so I just sucked it up haha.
