I own one and find this entire thing disheartening. It wasn’t cheap and if it fails my home will get wreaked. Yes, I have insurance but I shouldn’t have to plan on needing it. It’s there in case I need it.
It’s in Red Sea’s ballpark. It’s Red Sea’s job to put it’s customers minds at ease. My mind is NOT at ease.

When you buy an aquarium, you should have in mind all the possible issues that can happen with. Tank crack is unfortunately one and the worst of them. There is no 100% warranty against tank failure and this is not only with Red Sea tanks but with all brands.
Tell me a brand that will sell their tank telling they will never fail ? The max they can propose you if a life time warranty which is a kind of false peace of mind for the customer as it doesn't guarantee you that tank will never fail some day.
Red Sea are making aquariums since ages and having most for sure the widest range choice of the market, they know how to build aquariums.

Concerning the reported failures, we don't know anything about those failures, we just know they failed but under which circumstance it is not clear. There a tonnes of possible causes for a tank failure. It wont be easy to know the root cause. It can start from a stress on the joint during the transport....and...and

I own myself a 750 since 2 years now , before I had a reefer 450, 525 and a S500.

Anyone running a XR15 on their 170? I'm just wondering if it'll put off enough light. No SPS in this tank, so I think it'll be fine.

Another Reefer 750 failing this one also at the 1.5 yr mark.
It's on the Red Sea group Facebook page.

That's NOT GOOD.... again.

I have to ask now... whats your goal pointing all this out? If your that unhappy and worried about a red sea reefer, then break it all down and sell it like I did... case solved! Dont feel like I got boned paying too much and Im happy I learned my lesson on buying complete setups like these... Only thing good about these tanks are their resale value... I basically rented an xl425 for a year...

Passing on the info so people are aware of the failures and risks... That's my Goal. I never would have posted anything but happy tank photos if that's what was happening.. But it's not.

The issue also is this is Breaking news (no pun intended) These last 2 just happened and the fact that they where in that 18 month window is note worthy.

Must really suck having a tank your not happy with!
Good try trolling... And to be honest, I am considering selling it. I have a 625XXL. But all the reports so far are 750XXLs
HECK, my 625 tank isn't even cycled yet and I am thinking about selling it do to this stuff. I might as well at least let all the Rock finish cycling and curing for now.

Sell it then! Why exploit every bad 750XXL for over a week?

So I'm running my 170 reefer with a Sicce 3.0 return pump. Honestly, these are not my favorite pumps, I've had several sicce pumps up and quit on me for no reason. Yesterday when I came into my office my return pump was not running. I pulled it, checked it out & all seemed fine. Put it back in & it runs fine.... now I'm worried.

What are others running on their 170's? I think the Vectra S1 is overkill, I don't really think I need a DC pump... but who knows. Opinions?

While I don't run one on a Reefer I have used the Rossmont Riser850 and have been very happy. It is an Italian made pump like the Sicce and it is AC and reasonably price. I have ran one for 2 years on one of my office tanks and it has been great. If you want the features of a DC pump then you can control it with their controller later.

I’ve been running a Neptune COR-15. It seems more than adequate for the tank. I’m thinking of adding a manifold for a hang on fuge and/or reactor. I’m not sure if this pump will be strong enough for that though.

I was looking at the Cor-15 today. Seems like plenty of flow, even at like 50% or so.

Can't decide if I want to go eheim, or other type of pump or go with a nicer (more $$$) DC adjustable pump. I have an S1 on one of my other tanks and like it, but that tank is automated with an Apex. My 170 won't be. I'm keeping it fairly simple.

Today Red Sea posted this on their facebook group.
There have recently been a few reports about failing Reefer XXL750 which clearly raises cause for concern for all parties, regarding this specific model. Red Sea evaluates each case individually to ascertain the exact cause of failure and the implications if any for this or other models. At this point in time there is nothing to indicate an intrinsic problem with the XXL750 however to be on the safe side the company is currently reviewing all aspects of design, production and reasonable user interaction with the system that could possibly be contributing factors for the failures. As always, Red Sea’s customer support team is in place to respond as quickly as possible to any issues or concerns and will keep everyone updated if there are any developments. — feeling positive.

My RSR 250. It is two years old but most of the coral is newish (just establishing beyond the frag stage). Lots of trial and error and things have finally stabilized. The larger coral is all much older and started as tiny frags.
