I'm curious how everyone is cleaning their overflows of detritus? Just cleaned out my sump and I can imagine that the overflow has a good amount.
Do a water change by sucking the junk specifically out of the overflow. When you can't get any more via siphon break out the shop vac and suck out the rest.

My 3 year old Red Sea Reefer 250, most corals started off as frags.
Skimmer and water changes as my source for nutrient exporting
Lighting : ATI Sunpower 6 bulb T5 with Kessils for coral pop and shimmer. My T5s do all the work!
I dose 2 part, Potassium Nitrate and Acropower
A couple of MP10s for water circulation.

Any idea on your PAR levels with just the ATI? I've thought about switching to exactly that light.

I have my lights 9" above the tank. In the middle of the tank I'm about 260-270 par with just the ATI. Im measuring 430 at the water line. Actually these are old bulbs and in need of replacing. Par will be higher with newer bulbs. I tossed my G4s for these. You will be happy with them! Set it and forget it!

hey everyone, i have my reefer350 up and running, moved everything over from the reefer170. There is a fuge ready area in the v3 sump and looking to use it asap. Has anyone done that in here? Id like to see some pictures of the setup if possible. Wondering if the flow from the return is enough to generate a nice tumble and what not. Thanks!

I turned mine into a Xenia Refugium, there is very little flow though.

Anyone found that the glass scratches very easily? I don’t have any sand in my tank, and used live rock for my rock. I have no idea how I am creating so many scratches inside it...It’s as bad as my old acrylic tank.

It’s been about 2 years since my Reefer XL 425 finished cycling. I’ve come a long way since then.

I have a Varios-4 as the return pump. I am using one filter sock and one filter cup filled lightly with filter floss

I have a 1050gph return as well, plus filter socks so I would expect you will have similar low flow in your refugium section.

Just put chaeto in there and no surprise. No tumble at all. That’s ok. Maybe a small cheap pump to get it going otherwise do you think it’s probably fine to just let it sit and manually flip here and there?

Curious... for those that have run out of room in your sump or wanted more space for equipment... have you added a second sump and if so can you share how you configured it?

I got tired of limited space under the tank with my 525. I bought a much larger Pro Clear sump. My tank is in the living room and there is a bedroom closet directly behind it. I plumbed everything though the wall to the new sump. I also have the ATO, AWC and waste water resevoirs in that bedroom so it works out pretty well. Plenty of room to change filter socks or empty the skimmer cup.

Hello, I'm new to the forums and looking at a 425 XL can someone please tell me the sump area dimensions? I'm looking at a different sump and would like to know what size I can fit there. Thanks

My 425XL sump is 27.5x20x16.5". I believe I have a V2 edition sump with 2 filter socks, but the exterior dimension of the V3 sump should be the same. You could probably extend ~1/4" wider and still fit within the hinge.
