I had the same surprise when I set mine up, but the water overflows a pipe further down in the silencer.

Thanks! I just took a look and realized the silencer doesn’t go down all the way to the bottom, so water can go up the tube and down the main drain. Thought I had installed stuff wrong initially.

My 525 (few months old) is the same length as the 625 (59”) and no supports for me, you can see in my pic how the front section is lower than the sides...

Hard to take a photo back there but take a look at this thing I drew. Blue color is water.

@kartrsu I’m not sure that what you have labeled as the silencer does any silencing. I believe it’s mainly for keeping debris from going down the main drain pipe but I could be wrong.

Red sea calls it a silencer pipe. My guess is that it evens out the water going into the main drain so it goes down more quietly, as opposed to waves or more turbulent water entering the weir. I think of it like a port harbor. Don’t think it does a good job eliminating debris, since it could just go from the bottom up and down the drain. No filter floss to catchh anything.

@kartrsu never thought of it that way. Guess I kinda took it for granted. Thanks for the heads up.

I recently upgraded to Peninsula 500 from Reefer 250. Can someone please tell me what are the return/drain/emergency pipe sizes for both systems. I would like to see if I can re use my reefer 250 plumbing for the peninsula. I’ve tried looking online and all I found was return size for 250 is 16mm and peninsula is 25mm. Thanks in advance

Can anyone direct me to some good Reefer 525 xl builds? I’ve found a few going through the thread but I’ve only made it through 100 pages.

@cpschult nice pick up! You will love your Reefer. The rimless glass and low profile silicone seams are like no other.
