Help
I started working on my plumbing last night and, well, CRAP. How are you guys achieving such well put together joints without all of the blue glue showing?
I use clear primer and clear glue.
Plus as soon as I push the joint together, I wipe the excess glue off with a rag or paper towel.

You don't have to use primer, but I would suggest acetone to prep it before using clear pvc cement.

My setup is very rudimentary being that it's not my permanent setup. I have another 40 Breeder that is drilled, and that one will be all hard piped. But I'm not setting it up until I move into my new house. (Still a couple years away :) ) But right now I only have the drain line hard piped to the sump, the return line is the braided clear flex tubing.
You can see the drain line in this picture.

Got my manifold and unionized ball valves (which you can fully disassemble to clean and adjust the "tightness" of the handle) from flexpvc.com

Old post, but I bought the pieces to build a manifold like yours and didn't realize until I got everything that I needed some nipples to connect the qd ports on the manifold to the ball valves. What length did you use?

I suppose I'd better update my post here. The new tank is plumbed and installed. Here's my plumbing setup
It's the eshopps eclipse setup herbie style

Only thing different in this picture is I've since added an anti drain back valve for added redundancy
