Beautiful fish. I picked one up earlier. I noticed some terminal phase males that were really nice, but the females and transitional males seemed healthier to me. Is this a common thing with pintails or did it happen to be the sample I came across today?
Not surprising. Smaller specimens handle shipping much better.

I am new at keeping Fairy and Flasher wrasses. IMO, unless I want a specimen to be the Alpha Male in the tank and I already have fully developed males already in my tank, and I have a choice, I would op for smaller females or traditional males.
I really don’t have a choice with my Pintail, and I want him to be the dominant wrasse in my tank so I got an almost terminal Male pictured above a few days ago. He is in my QT system, doing well.

Any reason in particular? Would you refrain from buying "supermales" in favor of smaller males/females?
@evolved any thoughts?
Being male/super male in the wild is a tough life for wrasses. Stiff and violent competition for territory/females/dominance, guady colors and a flurry of activity make an easy target for predators, overall its a much more stressful life.

I think it is across the board. I think the younger males and female wrasses ship better.

Here's a poor cell phone pic of mine. He's my current favorite fish in my tank, and is always out front. I've had him for 2 months now and he gets along great with my other fish.

Nice. I spy a little regal as well. Nipping at the corals?

Not so far. He's been a perfect gentleman, and is also very outgoing!

Are these hardy and how well will they handle standard prophylactic copper and prazipro treatments?

Where is everyone getting their Pintails? Also, what's your acclimation and your quarantine procedure? I cannot get one to last more than 3 days, with slightly diff quarantine procedures.

Check out Divers Den. They had a couple up a couple hours ago. Not sure if they are still there or not but they have been posting them for sale pretty much weekly for the past couple weeks it seems like. I got one from them about 6 weeks ago and is doing great!
