So I am planning on getting a t slot stand for a new tank ,150 gallons… curious what everyone puts underneath their tanks between the aluminum, looks like pvc maybe?

1/2” ply with 1/2” purple insulation foam

Awesome thanks for the reply, do you think that plywood would be better than pvc or some type of plastic, I’d like to avoid wood if possible but not out of the question

I believe plywood is touted as the cost effective option. You absolutely can use a material such as starboard! Much cleaner looking, water proof, etc etc. Most importantly is the foam though, ensuring that it's a closed cell, dense foam such as the purple boards you see at home depot (assuming your tank doesn't have a plastic bottom brace)

Floor of stand-
½” x 33” x 84” HDPE

Home renovation comes first and cabinets are only 4 weeks out now. I have to get my butt in gear to finish painting, demoing kitchen, and bathroom remodel. New fish tank will have to sit until the holidays and I hope work allows me a few days off

600 with the custom cuts, 400 of that was for the UHMW…… It has less flex than the HDPE but I didn’t see the value in going with it for the floor

So I was able to acquire (for free) quite a bit of 3030 and 1530 and even a bit of 1515 aluminum extrusions. The longest ones are about 99 inches long and they are the 3030. I currently have a 180 gallon that I am building but thinking I should make the stand so it may hold a 300 gallon one day.

After looking at the post from @zatch I think my parts are 3030, 1530 and 1515 so i changed the numbers.

If your up to building your own stand without it being designed for you, I can assure you Zyltech.com is the best priced high quality option out there! I've build 3 or 4 T-Slot stands now for around the same price as a basic 2x4 stand through Zyltech!

(Id recommend 3030 or larger series T-slot for most tanks)

This is a 2020 T-Slot with acrylic inlays/shelves stand for a custom 18g Acrylic 20x16x14 wip (zyltech.com parts)

I wouldn't recommend using 2020 beyond like a 30g tank though, but sometimes its asthetically nice to use the smaller diameter (2020 supported on two sides can support around 500lbs)

Yup! I have them cut most of mine, it’s like 1.50 per cut, and I find my saw tends to warp it a little bit but there’s is very clean. The website sucks but they are top quality!

While not the cheapest dollar wise, I wouldn't hesitate to use Chris Benner again. I think his website is supposed to be up next year. He has built a lot of the BRS stands including Ryan's 360 stand. He can get you t slot and it is top end quality stuff.

T slot is really strong the 80x80 and even 4080 would have no issues holding a 300s weight. I’ve never worked with that large.

Heck, stack a couple 300s and an Ford Explorer on there
