What are the signs of a healthy new tank?

what is a normal and healthy progression that a tank will go through in beginning stages?

my progression: Dec 20th setup

1. increased ammonia, low nitrite, low nitrate
2. Decreased ammonia, high nitrite, low nitrate
3. 0 ammonia, low nitrite, high nitrate
...........brown diatom algae.........
............water change................
...............clean up crew.............
4. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, low nitrate, low phosphate
................brown diatom algae gone.......
................green algae growing on rocks..........
....2 Wyoming white clowns and coral added......

That’s where I stand....is this green algae a good sign? Growing on rocks mostly, but also slight film on glass a bit. I magnetic wipe daily.

Thanks!

I did use a lot of live rock and added nitrifying bacteria to shorten the cycle time

Creatures only die of old age, never disease.

My idea of a healthy tank is: after experiencing the uglies which is usually diatoms, hydroids, random algae and anything else that takes hold fast is gone. Then maybe 3 months or so of stability. It’s been awhile since I’ve cycled a reef tank and just started a new one in November. Still dealing with random algae and some diatoms. Coralline hasn’t taken hold. Parameters are mostly stable but I’m not shooting for percent yet so I’m not testing much. Softies have entered. Easy LPS could be kept at this point. SPS and anemones probably aren’t ready although I will try a BTA soon.

Sounds like you're in a good place to me.

Algae is a good sign. It's an important part of your little ecosystem. Just make sure it knows its place... a role player, not the star of the show ;Shamefullyembarrased
