Hello I’ve been reading that ge type 1 silicone is the way to go but I can’t find it with out the mold stuff. Would this one work? I bought some asi silicone but that darn thing skins over in minutes.and I’ve redone it twice and still can’t do it fast enough. Need something a little slower at skinning

I recommend that you purchase authentic aquarium sealer, you will then know it has no contaminants. Lots of places sell it online. Most LFS carry it as well. Dow sells one labeled as aquarium sealer as does Marineland. I’ve purchased both this year.

Uh oh when you say sets way too fast how much time do I have. I just ordered to reseal my 120. I’ve used that Ge silicone before and it turned yellow on me. Not sure what it was that caused it.

In less than 10 minutes!!! I’ve had to redo the tank 2 times already going on third. By the time I peel tape it’s already skimmed in like 6 mins.

So I guess I have to work fast. I’ll do the bottom first smooth it out and then each vertical corner and smooth it out then peel tape. Since silicone came today I’m gonna give it a shot

Well I just gave it a shot. Success!!
I had everything in place so I wouldn’t have any issues. I did the bottom smoothed it out, removed tape and then did the sides and smoothed them out and removed tape. Came out great. I did try to go back and smooth out an area on the bottom that bothered me but the silicone skinned over so I ended up leaving it alone. Not gonna see anyway. This stuff is thick.

Good luck just trust yourself and don’t try to go back to “fix” anything once it down and smooth just leave it alone. The main seal between the panes of glass are the more important ones which I wasn’t worried about since my tank wasn’t leaking.
This ASI silicone is super strong!

Cold weather slows down skin time , ASI in winter time might be worth it , extra strength for rigs over 100 gallon
